ElastineIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Elastin is the main extensible protein which allows reversible stretching of the skin (Mier and Cotton, 1976). The elastic recoil of elastin is provided by the hydrophobic domains within the protein. When elastin is stretched the hydrophobic regions come in contact with water decreasing entropy. Then, when the tension is released, the hydrophobic regions reaggregate and expel the water, and the entropy increases which drives the movement (mecham, 1999). Elastin can be histologically viewed using the stains orcein, or resorcin and fuchsin. It appears as a web like, branched fibrillar structure, in which very fine fibres branch from the main web of fibres in the dermis and extend into the epidermis as barely resolvable "fibrelets" (Montagna and Parakkal, 1974). More elastin appears in the grain region in comparison to deeper within the skin with some elastin appearing again at the flesh side of the corium region. Elastin comprises about 2.7 % of the dry matter in the grain layer (Keller and Heidemann, 1989). Note de contenu : - Location of elastin and response to conventional processing

A restricted substance list, however, cannot just be a table of chemicals or a letter to suppliers; it has to be at the heart of a brand's chemical management system with proper policing measures in place and robust systems to deal with chemical failures.
The tanning industry is a chemical¬intensive industry and, therefore, it is not surprising that the industry finds itself overloaded with different restricted substance lists from a wealth of different retailers and brands. Effective management of RSL policy and compliance with it helps to ensure that brands are not placing illegal products on the market and ultimately will protect the health and safety of not only the consumer but also the workers and the environment. In addition to this, there has undoubtedly been a rise in the activity of NGO organisations and the challenges that they pose are unavoidable. A robust RSL policy will help to avoid negative exposure and, in due course, will aid in protecting the reputation and brand image of a business.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/15_tkyPj5Fzew1FBSU12oysVPTbiBVcY8/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=19109

Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The effect of hydrophobic modification on the performances of collagen fibers (CFs) was investigated by using silane coupling agents with different alkyl chains as hydrophobic modifiers. It was found silane could be easily grafted onto CF surface through covalent bonds under 5% water content. This modification led to the transformation of surface wettability of CF from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. Interestingly, the change of surface wettability resulted in substantial improvement of the modified CF properties, presenting well dispersity of collagen fibers, higher thermal stability and enhanced mechanical properties in comparison with natural CF. The degree of improvement mainly depended on the length of alkyl chain in silane. Longer alkyl chain produced strong hydrophobicity and subsequently more superior performances of the modified CF. When the length of alkyl chain increased to 18 carbon atoms, the modified CF possessed durable superhydrophobicity even exposed to aqueous solutions of different pH, UV, and organic solvents, and had excellent thermal and mechanical properties like leather fibers. In general, this work clearly revealed that the properties of CF are closely and positively related to the hydrophobicity, which is suggestive in developing new leather making technology. IncinérationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : To delivery of sludge directly on to soil long remained thepreferred method of disposal for biodegradable sludges as it was the lowest cost option. Limits came into force for tannery discharges, however, due to the high water content of the sludge and the presence of chromium compounds making disposal more problematic and incurring extra expense. With increasing restrictions on landfill options for sludges, difficulties in licensing new sites and restrictions on ocean disposal, incineration for a wide range of industries is becoming more closely considered as the remaining option.
