The number of participants increased this year to over 2,500, from more than 40 countries. In the exhibition section, 218 exhibitors offered products and services.
A programme of 38 lectures offered a broad range of comprehensive information on the characteristics and functions of surfactants, detergents and cleaning products, exarnining both the scientific basis of these products in the 12th European Detergents Conference, as well as their practical applications in the sessions on detergents, cleaning products and cosmetics. The subject of the sustainability of detergents was presented jointly by the Detergents Committee of the German Chemical Society (GDC h/ HAD) and the SEPAWA Expert Group Legislation, Environrnent and Consumers (LUV).
The cosmetics lectures covered protection of the skin and pair against negative environmental influences using particular active substances and special test and examination methods. The lectures were presented in two sessions in collaboration with the German Society for Scientific and Applied Cosmetics (DOK) and the SEPAWA Specialist Group Cosmetic Applications and Technology (CAT). In an interactive programme entitled "Perfunne in Everyday Life," the German Society of Perfumers (DGP) presented the value-added chain from fragrances through perfumes to consumer products, which, was followed by a presentation of the indispensable influence of perfumes on the acceptante and success of consumer products.
The lecture series "Forum for Innovations" featured 68 short presentations on new product developments, applications and procedures for detergents, cleaning products and cosmetics. To promote quality training for the next generation, SEPAWA awarded 8 prizes for outstanding achievement : 3 for master's theses, 3 for undergraduate theses and 2 for dissertations. This year, there were three recipients of the SEPAWA Innovation Award for outstanding innovation in the field of detergents, cleaning products, cosmetics and perfumery.
The authors of two outstanding scientific papers received prizes for basic research into detergents and cleaners from the GDC h Specialist Group Laundry Chemistry.Note de contenu : - CHEMISTRY MEETS BIOLOGY : - Infection risk from pathogen transmission through surface contact - Development of practical test methods and infection model

Index. décimale : 668 Technologie des autres produits organiques Résumé : Lecithin (E 322), a high-quality, functional additive is used in many industrial applications. The viscous (native) raw lecithin contains approx. 35-40% vegetable oil. If the oil is removed, the lecithin changes its physical form and becomes a powdery solid. This simplifies handling of the pure lecithin powder, which is supplied in 25 and 50 kg containers, when used in production. It is also particularly suitable for oil-free and fat-reduced formulations and also permits lower dosage. Analytically, the two types of lecithin differ mainly in their acetone insoluble (A.U.) content, with crude lecithin having an A.U. of 60-65% and deoiled lecithin an A.U. of about 95-97%. RhéologieIndex. décimale : 668 Technologie des autres produits organiques Résumé : We present a comparative study of the influence of a new type of asphalt bitumen modifiers, reactive polyurethane modifiers, in the rheological properties of these materials. Reactive polyurethane modifiers are a new kind of asphalt bitumen modifiers, which are expected to enhance bitumen elasticity both through dissolution into the maltene phase, and by chemical binding to the asphaltene domains. Two modifiers were considered : a MDI-based polyurethane with a regid chain, and a star TDI-based polyurethane with three flexible arms. The chosen rheological tests were stress relaxation, dynamic shear and steady shear. Comparative testing based on the same 60/70 bitumen shows that both reactive polyurethane systems contribute to the stabilizatio of the dispersion. A positive contribution to the viscoelastic properties is also quite noticeable, namely on the elastic part of the shear modulus G'(w). The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines bio-based products as those derived from plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials. Standardized tests have been developed (ASTM D 6866) to quantify the bio-based content of a product or a raw material. The USDA provides a Certified Biobased Product label to provide information to consumers about the bio-based content of a product.
