Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Séchage:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- SéchageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To design high-performance industrial coatings, formulators must choose from a myriad of polymer chemistries. Proper selection of the polymer will determine the coating's physical and chemical properties as well as its protective capabilities. During the selection of these polymers, each systems advantages and shortcomings must be considered. For example, SB alkyd resins are often chosen in industrial coating applications because of their excellent gloss, good adhesion and wetting properties as well as excellent compatibility with other resin types. However, in many regions including North America, Western Europe and Japan, the consumption of SB alkyds has diminished as stringent environmental regulations have driven the industry towards lower VOC system. Vernis en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Climate change, increasing world population and urbanisation represent tremendous challenges for the future, and the research of sustainable solutions is of utmost importance for the coating industry. Sustainability in coatings encompasses several trends in product development like the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), minimisation of waste, use of renewable or recycled materials, improvement of process efficiencies etc. Another key aspect when addressing sustainability issues in coatings is maximising the performance of the film to assure high durability of the painted surface, which will translate into a long service life before the need for reapplication.
Hence, high coating durability increases the paint’s life cycle, preventing wasteful and inefficient use of energy and material resources from start to finish. Solventborne coatings, in particular 2K polyurethane formulations, still have a large share of the wood coatings market for furniture applications thanks to their excellent resistance to mechanical stresses and chemical agents, and to their nice aesthetic finish. However, the high VOC levels of 2K polyurethane coatings is increasingly making this technology less attractive compared to waterborne solutions. On the other hand, in recent years the performance of waterborne coatings has significantly improved, closing the gap or even outpacing their solventborne counterparts in many applications.Note de contenu : - Chemical and physical characterisation of a new waterborne 1K/2K binder

Revêtements en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Latex paints can be formulated from a variety of polymer dispersions. This article compares the properties of acrylic and acrylic/styrene dispersions when used as binders in such paints. The films formed from these dispersions absorb little water. Acrylic/styrene films are more permeable to water vapour than straight acrylic ones. There is no difference in the performance of acrylic and acrylic/styrene latices in mat paints formulated for use outdoors. Note de contenu : - Acrylic copolymer dispersions

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Reducing the repainting frequency of exterior coatings is a wish for most building owners, therefore, there is a continuous effort to develop longer lasting paints. A new family of pure acrylic binders has been designed to associate on to mineral particles present in a peint formulation, in particular Ti02 but also extenders, to space them optimally and offer a homogeneous peint film with superior exterior durability. Naturel exposure data in different climatic conditions confirm the benefits of this new binder technology, showing superior cheik resistance, gloss and colour retention and efflorescence resistance. The adsorption of these newly designed acrylic binders on to Ti02 pigment results, as well in a boost in hiding, which allows the paint formulator to reduce the pigment level and improve the sustainability profile of the paints.
