Increasingly, automakers are examining their use of materials even for the smallest components.
Engineering thermosets are an effective weight-saving alternative to heavier conventional steel and aluminium die cast products. They combine outstanding temperature stability, long-term mechanical strength, dimensional stability and high chemical resistance.Note de contenu : - CASE 1: WATER PUMP HOUSING : Resistance to high temperature - Water pump material dimensional stability - Long-term creep behaviour

Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Sheet moulding compound (SMC) is a major, industrially relevant manufacturing process. Epoxy/carbon fibre SMC is a new material that achieves the highest mechanical performance. To fully impregnate carbon fibre, however, poses a processing challenge due to its high surface area. This paper describes a systematic approach used to improve the mechanical performance of epoxy/carbon fibre SMC. Note de contenu : - Epoxy : the key ingredient in high-performance SMC
- Excellent mechanical properties for structural design
