Major trends in the leading fields of application are driving sales of PA6 and 66 – for instance industry 4.0 in the electrical/electronics segment, or e-mobility and lightweight design in automobile manufacturing. China is able to supply itself in the meantime with both plastics as well as important preliminary products such as caprolactam. Capacities for base resins and compounds are increasingly being expanded in the country. Ongoing high prices for PA66 compounds are leading to substitution with PA6 in many applications. |

- FIGURES : 1. The oil pan modules for the new six cylinder boxer engines of the porsche 911 Carrera are made of the PA6 Durethan BV30H2.0 - 2. A new PA6 is already proving itself in circuit breakers made by the Legrand Group - 3. Robert Bosch GmbH uses polyamide for the flange of a fan module used in air conditioning systems for the vehicle interior by various international automobile manufacturers - 4. Temperature distribution on a hollow, internally heated PA test specimen : simulation with convective heat transfer ; cross-section of the same simulation and heat measurement with infrared camera ; (same color temperatures scale as in the simulation) - 5. Thanks to new temperature stabilization systems, the thermal aging temperature of up to 30% glass-fiber-reinforced PA6 and PA66 compounds is reaching the dimensional stability limit under heat - 6. Tensile test on vibration welded test speciments at 23°C : the welding seam strength of Durethan BKV30WPXT after aging for 2000h at 200°C is more than five times higher compared to a standard PA6 with 30% glass fibers - 7. The Charpy notched impact strength at low temperatures of Durethan BKV235H2.0 XCP is considerably higher compared to Durethan BKV35H2.0, also reinforced with 35% glass fibers. The rigidity and strength are high notwithstanding the rubber-based toughening agent - 8. Prototype of a charge air pipe made of Durethan AKV320ZH2.0. The new P66 has a broad processing window and very good surface characteristics |
