Some of the characteristics that have contributed to the growth of polyurethane dispersions include improved mechanical properties, high flexibility and tensile strength and stability in changing pH-values. These properties in addition to the nonpolluting characteristics of water based systems, make polyurethane dispersions unique. Various resin building blocks, especially the use of tailor made polyether diols influence positive the final properties of polyurethane dispersions. Note de contenu : - Resin building blocks

Practically, a compromise is achieved between the excellent mechanical properties of polyurethane and the lower cost of the acrylic emulsions. The attempt of the research presented here is to find out a copolymerization method using free radical emulsion techniques as well as to study the structure-properties relationship.
