Index. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : Polyurethanes are a class of elastic copolymers, which are known for their highelongation and very good elastic properties. Polyurethanes as polymer are available in variable hardness grades, which make them suitable for a long range of applications i.e. packaging, sealing, coating, textile applications etc. Elongation and elasticity are regarded as important properties of textiles as these properties play an important role in the wear comfort and shape retention of the textiles. According to a study, 80% of clothing contains elastic filaments in variable proportion. This makes the use of elastic filaments unavoidable in the apparel industry. Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The market of elasticyarns has grown rapidly over the past years. Drivers are especially applications in apparel and medical textiles. Currently, elastic yarns are mainly produced by dry spinning. 4 major challenges limit this way of elastic yarn production : low production speeds, expensive production conditions, environmental issues due to sol-vents and a high surface tackiness of yarns, which makes further processing difficult. The research project ElasKosTex analyses a solution approach of developing melt spun elastic bicomponent filament yarns. Note de contenu : - Increasing production speeds and reducing tackiness

Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : "Adhesives are social substances", writes Irving Skiest, author of Handbook of Adhesives. "They unite materials, creating a whole that is greater than the sum of parts." Adhesives bond similar or dissimilar substrates, and growth in the adhesives industry has emanated from its advantages over other joining methods. For an adhesive to bond two substrates, it must: a) wet the substrate, b) chemically bond with the substrate, and c) have good cohesive strength. It is sometimes necessary to incorporate additives to wet the surface and bond with the substrate.
Keep in mind that adhesion is not a property of a material; it depends on many factors, including substrates (mainly the surface, not bulk), surface preparation, adhesive type (chemistry), specimen geometry (joint design), test method and environment. In the case of bonding zinc-coated steel with aluminum, for example, it is the aluminum and zinc surfaces that have to bond, not the steel.
Due to the growing concern over the toxicity of organo-mercury compounds in the environment, there is a universal effort to replace mercury-containing polyurethane (PU) adhesives. Organo-mercury compounds are used as catalysts in PU adhesives. The PU adhesives described in this paper represent 100% solid, two-component (2K) systems.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1.
