Oleosomes are a natural, multifunctional class of emulsifiers, which brings to the formulator of cosmetic emulsions, not only an extremely versatile emulsifying system which operates over a wide HLB range, but also the added benefits of emolliency, moisture barrier properties, and the anti-oxidants tocopherol. Because of their versatility (as emulsifiers), as well as their high level of multifuntionality, oleosomes from plant species such as safflower can be used to prepare cold process oil in water (O/W) emulsions, resulting in significant savings in time, energy, and inventory costs. |
