Marine corrosion prevention which is a headache of ail marine engineers and manufacturers can be controlled by new technology – Nanotechnology. Saltwater is major factor for marine corrosion. Regular conventional coating can protect normal water corrosion but corrosion rate of saltwater is comparatively higher than normal water, so it is necessary to use better corrosion protection coating which can withstand in very severe conditions of marine environment. Incorporation of Nano pigment instead of conventional pigments in marine primer and epoxy coating offers significant barrier properties for corrosion protection. Compared to the conventional coating, in nanocoating, impermeability of water, lower porosity, lower cracking potential, barrier effect and Lotus effect of nano pigment improves resistance to corrosion. The article will talk about improvement of marine corrosion prevention and to overcome problems of conventional coatings by nanotechnology. |
