ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Two-component (2K) polyurethane coatings are widely used as the top layer of protective coatings systems to provide performance benefits, such as UV durability, flexibility and chemical resistance. However, these 2K products are coming under increasing scrutiny due to the presence of unreacted isocyanate in the uncured formulation. There have been efforts made ta develop non-isocyanate based coatings however, it is a challenge to do so while providing ail performance benefits of a 2K Polyurethane coating. A new non¬isocyanate moisture curable silylated resin for protective coating applications is discussed in this paper. This resin is targeted to enable the coating formulator ta develop a one¬component (1K) non-isocyanate coating that provides performance on par with the current 2K polyurethane coatings. Some of the key coating properties that were studied and are . discussed herein are UV durability, flexibility, corrosion resistance and chemical resistance.

ZéolitesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the performance of a modified zeolite as an anticorrosive pigment for paints. A procedure to prepare the pigment was outlined and its anticorrosive properties assessed following the electrochemical behavior of a steel electrode in pigment suspension. In a second stage, alkyd paints were formulated employing different anticorrosive pigments: (1) 30% by volume (v/v) of the modified zeolitic rock, (2) 10% (v/v) of zinc phosphate, and (3) a mixture of 10% (v/v) zinc phosphate plus 20% (v/v) of the modified zeolitic rock. In every case, percentages were referred to the total pigment content. Titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and barium sulfate were incorporated to complete the pigment formula. The pigment volume concentration/ critical pigment volume concentration (PVC/CPVC) ratio was 0.8. The performance of the resulting anticorrosive paints was assessed by accelerated (salt spray and humidity chambers) tests and electrochemical (corrosion potential, ionic resistance, and polarization resistance) essays. It was demonstrated that the modified zeolite is effective in protecting steel from corrosion when it is used in combination with zinc phosphate. There exists a synergism between the modified zeolite and zinc phosphate that allows the zinc phosphate content in anticorrosive paints to be reduced. Titre : A new route for fabrication of the corrosion-resistant superhydrophobic surface by milling process Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Zhu Jiyuan, Auteur ; Xiaofang Hu, Auteur Année de publication : 2019 Article en page(s) : p. 249-255 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Mechanical processing is promising for the preparation of superhydrophobic surfaces. But the practical application is often restricted by the cost for precision instruments or the use of sophisticated technology. A novel mechanical route is reported to prepare superhydrophobic surfaces on aluminum alloys via the milling process using self-made disk cutters. Uniform groove-like microstructures were formed on the aluminum alloy surfaces, and after modifying with stearic acid solution, the surfaces became superhydrophobic. The surface morphologies, chemical compositions, and wettability of the obtained superhydrophobic surfaces were studied. Potentiodynamic polarization curves revealed that the superhydrophobic surfaces obtained good anticorrosion resistance. A formation mechanism for the surface morphologies was also proposed. This method is significant for the industrial applications of superhydrophobic surfaces due to its low cost, simple process, and great efficiency. Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne paint formulations based on three different emulsion resins were prepared with different pigment volume concentration (PVC). The effect of a prepared waterborne organic corrosion inhibitor with the best formula of each binder was studied. The role of binders on the corrosion inhibition of steel in the absence and presence of the corrosion inhibitor was studied. Physical, chemical, and mechanical properties, weight loss, corrosion resistance, and water up-take tests in the absence and presence of the corrosion inhibitor revealed that the protective properties of the three binders used at their optimum PVC against corrosion could be arranged in the following order: short oil alkyd > Urabrid AC 100 > acrylic emulsion resins. The prepared corrosion inhibitor showed excellent inhibition efficiency with the three used binders.
