In this standard appeared for the first time the determination of hexavalent chromium in leather by liquid chromatography. Two alternative instrumental options are proposed in this method: the direct determination of the absorbance of the chromate peak (Annex B of the Standard) or after the post-column derivatisation with diphenylcarbazide (Annex C). Instrumental performance parameters and economic costs between both methods are compared in this paper. One hundred different leathers were analysed by both chromatographic systems. The two methods proved very good correlation. The post-column method has a higher instrumental sensitivity compared to the direct detection method, which is important to reduce the uncerteinty of the measure in semples around the 3mg/kg current regulatory limit. Other important advantages are its absolute selectivity, which allows the secure identification of the hexavalent chromium in all type of complicated matrixes, and the higher durability of its well protected columns due to the use of cost-effective guard columns. Due to the technical advantages and the slight difference in the equipment cost, which can be compensated thanks to the larger lifespan of the chromatographic columns, it is concluded that the post-column method is the most suitable option for the most determination of hexavalent chromium in leather. With the country's increasing awareness of environmental protection, the leather industry in China is facing tremendous problems such as high environmental pressure, low corporate management, low-tech production methods, and poor technological innovation capabilities. In response to these problems, Chinese tannery companies have actively reformed and innovated for the sustainable development of the leather industry by gradually improving the internai construction, actively assuming environmental responsibilities, and intensifying innovation. After surveying and researching the leather industry in China, this paper examines the development trend of Chinese leather industry and the countermeasures for existing problems, theoretically lays a firm base and provides necessary references for the sustainable development of the Chinese leather industry. In order to study the change trend of moisture permeability of natural leather and polyurethane-coated natural leather, this paper tested the moisture permeability of sheepskin and polyurethane-coated sheepskin under different time and temperature conditions. The results showed that the moisture permeability of sheepskin and PU-coated sheepskin increased with the increase of temperature. ThermocinétiqueIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Improper treatment of waste cattle hair (WCH) from the tannery industry causes resource waste and environmental pollution. In this study, solid bonding was taken as the moulding approach. Thermoplastic polyurethane powder coating was used as adhesive to convert WCH into a multi-interface sound/heat insulation foam structure (WCHF). The physical and mechanical properties, air and water vapour permeability, sound/heat insulation properties were characterised. The result showed that, properties of WCHF can be controlled by adjusting the moulding process. The bulk density of WCHF was 0.417-0.775g-cm-3, the tensile strength was 4.88-41.54MPa, the elastic modulus was and 0.40-32.40MPa, the air permeability was 215.0-488.5mL cm-2•h-1, and the water vapour permeability was 21.6-B6.5g •m-2- h-1. The thermal conductivity of WCHF was 0.028-0.234W- m-1- K-1 under different temperature. At different frequencies, the sound insulation ratio of WCHF was from 7.4% to 77.0%, with 20mm of thickness and 90dB of initial sound intensity. This scheme is characterised by no consumption of organic solvent, and without any wastewater discharge. The present study provides an effective and clean recycling scheme for both WCH and other waste short fibre.
