Inherent inspection difficulties due to the VARTM process, such as fiber waviness, surface creases and wrinkles, are discussed and some technical suggestions are given to overcome them. It is demonstrated that pulsed thermography and 3-D (Array) ultrasonic system are applicable for the inspection of the structure manufactured by VARTM process. 3-D ultrasonic system provides much higher quality NDI results compared with conventional ultrasonic system. Furthermore, this systemshows the ability to inspect the thickness change or complex shape part in highly integral VARTM structure. Pulsed thermography is an effective NDI tool to evaluate the depth and the area of the flaw especially in large area because of its fast inspection rate and easy operation. Titre : Novel methods for dyeing the epidermis of bamboo culms and their colour fastness Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Min-Jay Chung, Auteur ; Sen-Sung Cheng, Auteur ; Chia-Ju Lee, Auteur ; Shang-Tzen Chang, Auteur Année de publication : 2014 Article en page(s) : p. 112-119 Note générale : Bibliogr.

The objective was to determine the optimum approach for endowing the bamboo culms with a fascinating brown colour without removing their epidermis, which would increase the economic value of bamboo products. Experimental results revealed that an excellent brown colour was obtained when bamboo culms were treated with 0.25% CI Basic Brown 4 solution in an 80 °C water bath for 60 min (H° values of 37.9, 25.0, and 25.7° respectively). In addition, alkali-pretreated bamboo culms also exhibited a good brown colour dyeing when treated with 0.25% CI Basic Brown 4 at ambient temperature for 2 days (a* and b* values of 30.8 and 35.1 respectively). Furthermore, the use of an ultrasonic bath instead of a water bath can reduce the treatment time required for achieving an improvement in the effectiveness of brown colour dyeing of the bamboo epidermis. Results obtained from indoor light fastness tests demonstrated that more uniform dyeing and better colour fastness could be achieved by colour fixation post-treatment with 1% glacial acetic acid.
UltrasonsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The oxidative dechroming of leather shavings using hydrogen peroxide under ultrasound was studied. It was shown that the chrome removal rate from the shavings was influenced by reaction time, temperature, medium and intensity of ultrasound. When 20kHz and 40kHz ultrasound are employed, the intensity of ultrasound should be regulated to 7-8W/cm2 . The proper circumstance for ultrasonic oxidation dechroming is 20 ̊C and pH 9.0-10 adjusted by CaO. In these conditions, dechromed with 10% hydrogen peroxide (conc.30%) under ultrasound 8 times, a chrome removal rate of 99.46% can be achieved, which is markedly higher than 89.60%, the chrome removal rate using a conventional method of oxidation dechroming.

In this work, to improve the film characteristics, we impose ultrasonic vibration on the substrate, and therefore the wet coating, during the rod-coating preparation process of the GCFs, and study the effect of vibration power. The 5 x 5 cm2 thin films prepared on flexible polyethylene terephthalate with ultrasonic vibration imposed on the substrate of wet films demonstrate improved conductivity and reduced thickness. Ninefold enhancement in charge carrier concentration is observed when ultrasonic vibration is applied. The improved performance is ascribed to the eliminated pores in films, and rearrangement of graphene in the polymer network, brought about by nanometer-scale-amplitude ultrasonic vibrations. The electrical property of flexible films is demonstrated to be stable after multiple cycles of bending. Note de contenu : - Film preparation
