Terpolymère acrylonitrile butadiène styrèneIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : A novel technology is provided to cope with adhesion of plastics. In transportation, construction and building markets the use of lightweight plastic materials keeps growing as these materials will improve the energy efficiency. For instance, fuel consumption in cars is out and buildings can be more efficiently insulated. Besides practical uses, plastics also allow nicer designs, as shaping of plastics in complex forms is easier. This trend results in hybrid assemblies, as different types of plastics, metals, wood, will have to be joined together and require structural 'hybrid' adhesives, which can adhere materials with different expansion rates and exhibit high adhesive strength to replace welding, riveting and nailing.

Stabilité hydrolytiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The hydrolytic stability was evaluated for a series of oligoesters comprised of three or four different monomers. The oligoesters were prepared from adipic acid (AA) and isophthalic acid (IPA) with six different diols, 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, neopentyl glycol, 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, 2-butene-1,4-diol, and one triol, trimethylolpropane. The hydroxyl-terminated ternary and quaternary oligoesters were end-capped using phenyl isocyanate. The hydrolysis rate constants were obtained from acid number. The flexibility of diacids had a determinative effect on the hydrolytic stability of the carbamate end-capped oligoesters. Polymères ramifiésIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A series of coconut oil-based hydroxyl-terminated hyperbranched-linear polyesters of generations 1-3 (CHBPs) were synthesized using a one-pot method and utilized in leather making. The effect of hyperbranched polymers on collagen fibres was discussed by comparing with linear products at macro level. The experimental results showed that hyperbranched polymers are less lubricating than linear compounds but have more filling abilities. Thickening rates of the leather treated by CHBPs decreased with growing generations due to their hydroxyl groups external to the molecule which will cross-link collagen fibres. In addition, CHBPs at higher generations can shrink location difference sharply. Unluckily, except for CHBP, other products didn't improve the mechanical properties of the leather remarkably. Still, hyperbranched polymers showed great potential application in the leather industry.
