Matériaux cimentaires -- Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Carbonation is process associated with deterioration of concrete by the means of chemical reaction in between atmospheric CO2 and unreached Ca(OH)2 with presence of water, as a result the alkalinity value of concrete reduces. This reduced pH value leads to a break- down in passivity layer around reinforcement causing corrosion of iron bar, cracking of concrete and reduced compressive strength with ultimately leads to reduction in service life. Present paper have glance over the deterioration of concrete by the means of various dispute of weathering. Study include discussion over various physical and chemical test methods to determination of depth of carbonation of concrete using phenolphthalein as indicator after accelerated and physical exposure. Silicon coating, bituminous coating, applied acrylic coatings are used for protection against diffusion of CO2. The performance of filled polymers is generally determined on the basis of the interface attraction of filler and polymers. The present study deals with evaluation of electrical properties of fly ash and mica filled epoxy systems and comparing them with conventional silica used for such applications. Epoxy resin is chosen for our present study owing to its exceptional combination of properties such as easy processing, high safety and good electrical properties. Note de contenu : - TABLES : 1. Revêtement émail:Peinture-émailIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Many of the problems involved in the dipping operation are not encountered in the formulation itself. The rate of withdrawal of the finished parts from the dip tank plays the most vital role in the success of the paint product. Adjustments in viscosity and solvents must be made to suit this rate as well as the flash-off time alloted; once this had been done, success depends on the rate of withdrawal. Most failures and rejects can be traced to changes in the rate of this withdrawal from the dip tank. Note de contenu : - Anti-skinning agent

Pipelines -- Corrosion
Revêtements protecteurs
TuyauterieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Corrosion of underground pipelines and other buried structures takes place by the electrochemical processes. Various factors are responsible for the corrosion of underground pipelines like dissimilar metals in the pipelines, variation of the nature of soil, different surface conditions of the pipelines, electrolysis and due to the attack of different groups of bacteria. Different methods were applied to protect the buried structures from corrosion like application of protective coatings which included hot applied coatings, cold applied coatings and cathodic protection (CP). The development of coating in every sphere e.g. formulation, manufacturing and application has elongated the life of underground structure. This proves especially true in the design of coatings with targeted properties that meet required VOCs. In 1946 when Dow Chemical Co. first introduced latexes to the coatings market, there was an immediate need for understanding film formation from waterborne polymeric particles.
