Revêtements poudre:Peinture poudreIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this paper, the company gives its own view on the powder coatings market.
Powder coatings represent just 7% of the worldwide coatings market but by most industry estimates, this US$4bn industry has been successful in replacing liquid coatings in a number of key markets including appliances, wood, metal and even automotive coatings. Powder coatings are used mainly in the durable-goods markets, including motor vehicules, appliances, house wares, furniture, industrial machinery and lawn and garden equipement. The automotive industry offers excellent propects for powder coatings, particularly in the new applications such as exterior primer and clear coats.
Additionally, the appearance of consumer good is trend-led and the proportion of brightly coloured powder coatings is increasing as retailers differentiate their goods.Note de contenu : - THE PIGMENT PRODUCERS'PERSPECTIVE

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Speed, flexibility, reliability and innovation are the critical success factors in the eyes of the industriel paint manufacturer. These are the findings from a 2009 survey Evonik Colortrend conducted across 28 European countries. Utilising colourants and colour systems enables manufacturers to be fast and flexible in supplying the right colour in the right quality on demand. However, if colourants are simply developed with a product-to market approach, without knowing and taking all of the specific customer requirements into consideration, the chances of failure are relative high. Industrial paint systems are applied for decorative, functional and protective purposes. A negative impact on paint properties, like hardness, blocking and corrosion resistance, is usually not acceptable. The colourants must be suitable for the intended use and selection of the colourants should be based on an evaluation of all relevant aspects such as : Impact on the coating properties - Dispensability - Compatibility - Registration - Regulation.
This feature provides a detailed insight into a solution-to-customer approach. This approach helps industrial manufacturers to meet the current and future VOC limits, to reduce complexity and increase flexibility in production and logistics while paint properties are not compromised. The focus of this approach is the development of a flexible pathway. A pathway for a successful and time efficient transfer from the drawing board to globally registered NO-VOC colourants which are tailored to meet all customer-specific requirements. Findings on dispensability, stability, durability, impact on paint properties and other key properties are presented. The findings demonstrate that this tailoring concept is fit for purpose in the industrial waterborne paint market.Note de contenu : - Approach

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In many applications, such as wood coatings or in the printing industry, formulations based on modem acrylate polymer technologies provide excellent coating results, while at the same time utilising the advantages of water-based coating materials. They are the environmentally conscious choice compared to solvent-based coatings and during processing, whether industrial or do-it-yourself (DIY), water-based coatings are sale in use and very easy to handle.
Solvent-based paints contain higher levels of organic compounds than water-based paints. However, these paints and their underlying polymers are being increasingly phased out because of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) being released into the atmosphere upon evaporation, resulting in a strong odour and toxic effects on the environment. Stricter environmental regulations have required paint manufacturers to drastically reduce the VOC content of their paints.
In addition to these greater environmental demands the quality requirements of peint manufacturers are also becoming increasingly demanding, for example in terms of appearance, feel or durability of high-performance coatings. For formulations that meet these challenges, Zschimmer & Schwarz offers tailor-made innovative water-based polymer technologies with the highest standards of quality and cost-effectiveness. Some of these technologies from the product portfolio are briefly presented here.Note de contenu : - Interpenetrating polymer network (IPN)
