Tests microbiologiquesIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : Limitations of correct microbiological techniques in many industries including paint industries had led to the underestimation of the potential threat of microbiological origin. It leads to difficult to explain kind of situation in spoilage of end product like paint which although substantiated with presence of biocides. Although it has been a well established fact that in many natural environments approximately 1% of microbes can be readily cultivated in lab still standard industrial practices rely upon conventional approach for microbial enumeration. Conventional approach which utilizes nutrient rich media for cultivation of bacteria can only represent very small portion of the actual bacterial population of tested raw material. In this study it has been observed that bacterial population can be increased with dilution of the nutrients in conventional nutrient media. Note de contenu : - Paint sample

Soufre-limonène polysulfureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The toxic effects of mercury and other heavy metals present in the environment are well known and thus many efforts are being put forward to reduce their levels. One such technology that has come up involves using a material, Sulphur Limonene Polysulphide (SLP) which has the capacity to reduce the metal content upto 55%. It is a polymer that is prepared using sulphur and limonene which are the by products of oil refinery and citric juice industries respectively. This makes the technology comparatively of a lower cost, and also easy to commercialize based on the abundance of the raw materials required. The polymer synthesized can be used as a coating or a solid device that adsorbs the heavy metals from its surroundings, which further penetrates inside the surface of polysulphide, likely due to its malleable nature and high density of mercury. Another distinct feature of this polymer is that it changes colour from red to yellow as it adsorbs mercury, which gives a qualitative idea of when the device is saturated and needs to be replaced. Also a study was done which showed that SLP does not release any harmful materials into the environment, thus making it an efficient and commercial technology to extract the toxic metals in the environment. MesureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : ASTM :D-610-68 gives the method of rating which accounts the percent area rusted. ASTM:D-SSPC photographic standard is very useful for the purpose of comparison to assign the rating and degree of rust. Any other method to calculate the area rusted may also be used for this purpose. The linear, numerical rust grade scale is an exponentiaI function of the area of rust so that slight amounts of first rusting have the greatest effect on lowering the rust grade, the rust grade versus area of rust is a straight line plot on semi-logarithmic plot from rust grade 10 to rust grade 4. The slope of the curve changes at 10 percent of the area rusted to 100 percent rusted to permit inclusion of complete rusting on the 0 to 10 rust grade scale. The scale and verbal description are given below in table. Pigments organiques
Index. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : So far we have seen the Inorganic Pigments which are extensively used in the Water Rased Emulsion Paints. Now let's go over to Organic Pigments which also play a vital role in bringing out the beauty of the colours, especially in the Interior surfaces. They are sharp with their good tinctorial strength give lot of legroom to the Formulator in choosing the pigments either in Powder form or in Paste form, which are available in pre-clispersed condition making things easy for bath the Formulator and the Production personnel. Some times in a Formulation bath Inorganic and Organic Pigments may be present to arrive at a particular colour/shade. Note de contenu : - Organic pigments
