Collagen fibre is the main component of leather solid waste and it has unique physical and chemical properties. lt is a potential biomass adsorption material with a wide range of applications. As an adsorption material, the cost of collagen fibre is low, il also has excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. However, the studies have shown that the direct use of collagen fibre as an adsorbent material has disadvantages, such as low adsorption capacity, poor selectivity and inability to resist high temperatures. In order to meet the practical application conditions of adsorption, and broaden its application areas, many researchers have studied the modification of collagen fibre using metal ions, tannin, hyperbranched polymers, and aldehydes etc. The problems and the technological focus in the research of adsorbants based on collagen fibre are indicated. Tendons -- RecyclageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Tendons of slaughterhouse cattle are by-products in animal processing and contain a substantial proportion of collagen and also elastin. This contribution deals with preparing collagen-type hydrolysates from cattle tendons (long tendons, hind tendons, Achilles tendons, fore tendons) in a 3-stage process. Factors under investigation are effects of added enzyme and extraction temperature on efficiency of hydrolysis. The character of starting raw materials and technological conditions in hydrolysate preparation markedly affect hydrolysis efficiency. Lower efficiency of hydrolysis (percentage of starting material converted into hydrolysate), max. 30%, is achieved when processing long tendons containing a higher elastin proportion. On the contrary, when processing hind, Achilles and fore tendons, conversion nears 100%, thus evaluating starting raw material to the utmost. Hydrolysates prepared under defined conditions (adequate addition of enzyme and suitably chosen extraction temperature) from these tendons meet strict standards specifying ash content (2.0%) for food or pharmaceutical applications. High efficiency and variability of technological conditions in the processing of cattle tendons enables to prepare high quality products (hydrolysates or gelatines) suitable for food, cosmetics or pharmaceutical applications. The results showed that saccharides were associated with flocculation. However, proteins had a weak effect on flocculation, and fats, osamines and glycoproteins had no effect. The findings elucidated the role of each ingredient in the removal of contaminants from tannery wastewater, providing a basic for understanding the mechanism of action of bioflocculants in the treatment of tannery wastewater. Hides subjected to a dressing for gloves.
The research have shown a significant correlation between features, assessed sensory and instrumental. In the case of investigational leathers elasticity were significantly correlated with fullness in touch. It also showed the relationship between the hardness measured instrumentally, and softness and toughness evaluated organoleptically. The measurement results of texture parameters show that can be objectively assess and compare features, which are usually defined by our senses such as hardness, elasticity and flexibility.Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Tannage végétalIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Artificial acid rain was chosen to simulate the influences of gaseous pollutants on vegetable-tanned leather. The vegetable-tanned leather samples were soaked in the artificial acid rain for 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 days, at 50°C and 100% relative humidity conditions. Then, these samples were evaluated by various analytical methods. Micro hot table (MHT), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG) were used to evaluate the influences of acid rain on thermal behaviours. Damage to mechanical properties were also analyzed by a standard method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and optical microscopy were used to investigate the changes of structural and histological properties during ageing. With the extension of ageing time, thermal stability was gradually reduced to lower values, including shrinkage temperature, thermal denaturing temperature, associated enthalpy and temperature of maximum decomposition rate. ln addition, mechanical properties such as tensile strength, tear strength and elongation at break also gradually decreased. The FTIR results showed that, during the ageing process, the amide 1 and amide 11 bands of collagen were gradually shifted to lower numbers, indicating increasingly serious damage to the structure of the peptide chain corresponding to obvious fibril breakages which were also detected through optical microscopy. StyrèneIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Collagen extracted from leather wastes was used as the main raw material, a modified protein retanning agent was prepared by free radical polymerization reaction with butyl acrylate and styrene. The product was characterized by FT-IR, TEM, particle size analysis and other methods. The retanning properties were studied on goat garment leather. The results showed that grafting took place between collagen and the non-ionic monomers. The grafting rate was about 65%. The latex particles of the modified collagen cross-linking emulsion were spherical and uniform, the average particle size was about 117nm. The resistances of the product to electrolyte, acid and alkali were good. The thickening rate [substance increase] of the leather was about 10% when using the retanning agent. The leather has good resistance to wet and dry rubbing after retanning, the fixing effect was remarkable. The shrinkage temperature was up to 122°C. Compared with similar commercial retanning agents, the tensile strength and tearing strength of leather retanned by the self-prepared retanning agent increased by 28.5% and 37.8%, respectively.
