Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Since leather is sold by the square foot, destructive tests lessen the square footage of the material and infringe on the leather manufacturer's total profit. Therefore there is a need for developing an instrument to perform nondestructive testing of the physical properties of leather. In this investigation, experiments were designed to pass leather test samples through a pair of rotational acoustic sensors, thereby enabling the collection of acoustic emission (AE) signals from both the grain and corium and provide a more accurate assessment of the quality of leather. Observations showed a strong correlation between the mechanical properties of leather and the corresponding cumulative acoustic energy. We also used this dynamic method to characterize the grain break of leather. Results showed that the difference in grain break could be determined form the amount of acoustic hits collected from moving the AE sensors over a leather sample. Observations showed the poorer the grain break ; the more AE energy was detected. Data also demonstrated that thicker samples tended to have poorer grain break. In short, this study demonstrated that the tensile strength, stiffness, toughness ans grain break could be nondestructively determined by measuring acoustic quantities with a pair of rotational sensors. Structures intelligentesIndex. décimale : 620.11 Matériaux (propriétés, résistance) Résumé : Adaptronics is the term encompassing the technical fields that have become known internationally under the names "smart materials", "intelligent structures", and smart structures". Adaptronics contributes to the optimisation of systems and products. It bridges the gap between material and system or product and incorporates the search for multi-functional materials and elements and their integraton in systems or structures. The authors of this book have taken on the task of displaying the current state of the art in this field. The system components actuators, sensors and controllers, technical fundamentals, materials, design rules and practical solutions are all described. A selection of applications examples is also presented and current development trends are demonstrated. Note de contenu : - 1. Ions cuivreIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : An effective colorimetric chemosensor, 2,4-dichloro-6-((E)-(((Z)-3-methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2(3H)-ylidene)hydrazono)methyl)phenol (HMD), was synthesised for Cu2+ detection. HMD with benzothiazole moiety showed a large bathochromic shift (153 nm) and a definite colour change for Cu2+. HMD could detect Cu2+ down to 0.47 μmol/L in the solution phase and could clearly distinguish it from other metal ions, even in the test strip. The binding mode between HMD and Cu2+ was determined to be 1:1 using Job plot and electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry. The sensing mechanism of HMD for Cu2+ was illustrated as the combination of metal-to-ligand charge transfer and intramolecular charge transfer via theoretical calculation.
