Revêtements -- Additifs:Peinture -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There is a growing trend for higher solids contents in epoxy systems. However, the low molecular weight epoxies required often lead to brittle coatings which are easily damaged. Flexibilisers can improve some properties but compromise others. Traditional toughening agents increase viscosity but can improve a wider range of properties. Data on a newly developed toughener is provided. Note de contenu : - Coating damage can have serious consequences
- Key differences between flexibilisers and tougheners
- The significance of phase separation in toughening
- Performance of different tougheners compared
- Differences in toughening mechanisms revealed
- Flexibility issues examined in case study
- Demand for tougheners is expected to increase

Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Damar Batu, a natural resin, was studied analitycally to determine its physical and chemical characteristics. The resin was then modified so that it could be used to synthesise alkyds and polyurethanes. Paints based on these binders were found to offer anticorrosive properties at least comparable to the rosinated alkyd formulation commercially used in India. Note de contenu : - Sources and uses of damar batu
- The nature and composition of alkyds and polyurethanes
- Chemical analysis experiments summarised
- Resin is modified to increase functionality
- Determining the functionality of modified DB
- Alkyd and polyurethane systems are synthesised
- Corrosion performance matches commercial products
- Further development should lead to wider use

We mean titanium dioxide, which has now become one the most important raw materials for paints and surface coatings. Name after the Titans of Greek mythology and despite beeing discoverd only relatively recently, there is often no getting round titanium dioxide - indeed, it is probably the most widely used pigment ever.
