Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The hyper branched polymers are more attractive because of their polydispersity and the less perfect globular shape. Unlike conventional polymers, the high number of end groups and their nature participate actively in the physical properties (solubility, glass transition temperature and viscosity) in combination with the backbone structure. This characteristic is exceptional since it leads to the possibility of designing the macromolecule with the combination of many different end groups, thus defining the type of reactive chemistry, properties and applications.
Hyperbranched polymers also have received much attention due to their unique chemical properties as well as their potential applications in coatings, additives, drug and gene delivery, macromolecular building blocks, nanotechnology, and supramolecular science. Hyperbranched polymers can be prepared by means of single monomer methodology (SMM) and double-monomer methodology (DMM). Too many factors have to be considered such as nature of end groups, branching density, flexibility of the repeating units, and in addition, the broad molar mass distribution can obscure specific effects.
Hyper branched and dendritic polymers show low viscosities at high molecular weights. For coating applications, this should be highly interesting in terms of the environmental issues, where legislation plays an important role in the future trend towards coatings with lower VOCs than today. However, favourable viscosity is not the only property to which hyper branched polymers can contribute.
The technology of hyper branched polymers is still new and largely unexplored. Numerous parameters affect physical as well as mechanical and chemical properties.Note de contenu : - HISTORY OF HYPERBRANCHED POLYMERS

Revêtements -- Additifs:Peinture -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Innovative recycling technology, transforming coal-fired power station fly ash from a waste into valuable eco-mineral fillers and extenders for industrial scale brings a great source of inorganic mineral filler. Fly ash needs to be considered as a "resource", and hence it just can't be "disposed" off but should be "utilised" fruitfully. By using this mineral filler we can cut production costs, increase margins and improve profitability, white simultaneously greening supply chain. Fly ash / Cenospheres can bring a wide range of important benefits through lover energy usage or higher loadings, or as a result of the replacement of more expensive minerals. These benefits depend on the polymer, application and materials currently being used ; whether flexible or rigid, thermoplastic or thermosetting and replaced conventional and man-made inorganic fillers and extenders such as talc, GCC, glass fibres, glass microspheres, barytes, dolomite, clay. Fundamental advantages of using fly ash as filler are being spherical ; relatively hard ; and free flowing. By beneficiation process removal of any residual surface alkali salts results in enhanced performance of fly ash filler in coatings. Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Environmental effect

It has overcome the disadvantages of traditional solvent-based coatings. However, the green coatings still need light stabilizers to help avoid degradation from sun light and improve weather stability.

Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Stress corrosion is a form of corrosion that takes place in metal resulting from the conjoint action of stress and chemical. It is abbreviated as SCC. It is a phenomenon associated with a combination of static tensile stress, environment, and a metal metalIurgical condition which leads to component failure due to the initiation and propagation of a high aspect ratio crack. It is characterized by fine cracks (Figure-1), which lead to failure of potential components of the structure concerned. The SCC is an insidious form of corrosion ; it produces a marked loss of mechanical strength with little metal loss. The damage is not obvious to casual inspection and the stress corrosion cracks can trigger mechanical fracture and catastrophic failure of components and structures. Caustic cracking and hydrogen embrittlements are also the specific type of stress corrosion cracking. The failures are more often sudden and unpredictable which may occur after as I ittle as few months to years of previously satisfactory service. Several major disasters have involved stress corrosion cracking, including the rupture of high-pressure gas transmission pipes, the explosion of boliers, and the destruction of power stations and oil refineries. Revêtements -- Appareils et matériels:Peinture -- Appareils et matérielsIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : Attritor is a via media between Bali Mill and a Batch type Sand Mill/Bead Mill. Dispersion time is approximately 2 - 3 hours, i.e. one tenth time required by Bali Mill. This is a best machine for ail types of primers. Major wear & tear is of the fingers only and hence, maintenance cost is low. Author recommendsthis machine can be best used for making homopaste, stainers, machine colourants etc, as there is no foam generated because of low speed. Very good tentorial strength is developed which can be achieved with dispersion time and momentum of grinding media instead of using traditional machines like kneader and triple roll mills.
