It is different from the familiar linear view of leather making as It does not follow step-by-step events as usually described in quality control manuals or defined by formulations and instructions. It's a holistic perspective on manufacture. Note de contenu : - BLUEPRINT FOR A TECHNOLOGY : (a) Material properties - (b) Applied physics - (c) Applied chemistry

Wet-white (tannage)Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Automotive upholstery leather can undergo extreme environmental that may cause premature ageing. Leather is strongly affected by three main environmental parameters : temperature relative humidity and UV radiation.
UV radiation causes colour change, fading, surface erosion, loss of gloss, etc. Increasing the levels of UV radiation represents a primary accelerating factor for leather ageing. Temperature produces thermal oxidation degradations, subsequent reaction rates and acceleration of other weathering reactions. Relative humidity acts as a chemical reagent in many hydrolytic weathering reactions and as a physical stressor of leather Additionally, when relative humidity is over 65 % leather is susceptible to mould attack.
The aim of this work is to compare the effect of the tropical environment exposure on both chrome-tanned and wet-white upholstery leather.Note de contenu : EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Methodology - Evaluation of sample

PerméabilitéIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In this paper, the comprehensive effects of environmental temperature and time on the moisture permeability of natural sheepskin and regenerated leather were compared and analysed by using MATLAB fitting and least square method and their regression equations were constructed respectively.
The microstructure comparison shows that both natural and recycled leathers are composed of protein fibres, which have many hydrophilic groups in their chains, therefore both have good moisture permeability which varies significantly with temperature. The moisture permeability of regenerated leather is slightly weaker than that of natural sheepskin leather. The reason is that latex molecules fill between the collagen fibres, which reduces the gaps through which water vapour can pass, while the papillary layer of natural sheepskin has a tight structure and has a wicking effect that regenerated leather does not.Note de contenu : - Correlation analysis between temperature and time of the moisture permeability of natural sheepskin and regenerated leather

HumiditéIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This article utilizes the Tinker software to simulate the microspatial structure of type III collagen (1bkv) in natural leather. The four simulation environment temperatures were set at 300K, 320K, 340K, 360K te analyse the relevant trend of variation of coordination number (CN) and interatomic distance (Dis) and the number of interatomic distance (Dis No) of the lbkv collagen whole atom at the different temperatures. The results shows that with the increase of temperature the CN increases tao. As the CN value of 1bkv collagen increased gradually from 125 to 350, the floating frequency of Dis No increases with the increase of simulation time. But 0.5-0.6ns is the inflection lime et simulation. When the temperature increased to 360K, the corresponding Dis No obviously increased while, when the temperature is less than 360K, the change of Dis No is not obvious. This phenomenon shows that temperature is an important factor which affects the Dis No of collagen molecules. The increase of temperature makes the inner spatial structure of collagen molecules become smaller, which explains that, as the temperature rises to a certain value, the naturel leather's moisture-penetrability and breathability decreases. Wet-bright (tannage)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Since leather is strongly affected by three main environmental parameters — temperature, relative humidity, and UV radiation — this study focuses on the effect that these three factors have on wet-bright leather ageing. Wet-bright leathers were exposed to weathering affects in a climatic chamber to 1) try and Identity the major variables affecting this weathering process; and 2) check for any possible interactions among these variables. Both a multilevel centralized factorial experimental design and an analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used as statistical tools for estimating the effects of the parameters.
