Peau -- Soins et hygièneIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The skin, as the protective barrier that separates and isolates the inner from the outer environment, suffers the consequences of the intrinsic factors of aging (oxidative stress, glycation, inflammation etc), as well as those produced by the so-called extrinsic factors (ionizing radiation, UV-B, pollution, tobacco, eating style etc) ail of which may alter its condition and function.
As a consequence, skin may undergo changes leading to photoaging, inflammation, immune dysfunction, imbalance in epidermal homeostasis and other disorders. Recent studies on the field of epigenetics show that the skin undergoes a series of damages that end up accumulating with time and undermine the proper functioning of cells. Our genes lose the ability to meet the necessities and therefore they become ineffective in repairing the damage when and where is needed.
