The results indicated that the surface energy of a film of this latex was as low as that of PTFE (i.e. 18.5mN/m) by contact angle measurement. The water repellency of the film made from a polyurethane dispersion blended with the fluorinated core-shell latex was remarkably increased. When applied in leather finishing, a coat with excellent wet rub fastness was obtained showing the great effectiveness of the low surface energy fluorinated acrylate core-shell latex applied as a top coat additive to improve wet rub fastness performance.

Tannage Résumé : Fatliquors are some of the most effective chemicals to impart softness and flexibility to leather, and low temperature softness of leather is very important for the application of leather in a low temperature environment. The main objective of the present work is to compare low temperature softness of leather lubricated with various types of fatliquors. In this work, a softness tester and dynamic mechanical analysis were used to investigate the softness variation of leather which was lubricated with different types of fatliquors, such as polyether silicone, sulphonated rapeseed oil, modified soybean lecithin and so on, at temperatures within the range of -15°C to 25°C. The results indicate that the smallest variation in softness ratio is shown by polyether oil lubricated leather and imply that silicone oil is superior to sulphonated rapeseed oil and modified lecithin for manufacturing a leather with excellent low temperature softness. Therefore there is great value in effectively utilizing silicone oil as a main component in fatliquoring agents to meet the new growing demand for low temperature softness of leather. TannageIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A bioflocculant prepared with Bacillus subtilis was used to treat tannery wastewater, followed by component analysis of the bioflocculant. The restes demonstrated that the bioflocculant prepared with Bacillus subtilis was able to treat total nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and colour, successfully removing the compounds from tannery wastewater. Component analysis revealed that the bioflocculant contained saccharides, proteins, glycoproteins, osamines, and fats ; the bioflocculant did not contain nucleic acid. It is expected that these results will contribute to future research into the application and the mechanism by which bioflocculants remove contaminants from tannery wastewater. This study found that a bioflocculant produced by Bacillus subtils is able to treat leather wastewater, but the flocculation activity of the bioflocculant needs to be improved. In this paper, the culture conditions of Bacillus subtilis were optimised by single-factor and orthogonal tests. The results showed that the bioflocculant produced by Bacillus subtilis through optimising the culture conditions had good flocculation efficiency. The optimal culture temperature after optimisation was 36°C, the inoculum dose was 5% (v/v), at pH7.5, the culture time was 48 hours, the flocculation efficiency increased from 46.12% to 73.71%, an increase of 59.82%, and the production of flocculant increased from 0.45g/L to 0.61g/L, an increase of 35.56%. Through optimising the culture conditiops of Bacillus subtilis the flocculation efficiency of the bioflocculant, was improved and both the cost of flocculation and secondary pollution were reduced. The results showed that saccharides were associated with flocculation. However, proteins had a weak effect on flocculation, and fats, osamines and glycoproteins had no effect. The findings elucidated the role of each ingredient in the removal of contaminants from tannery wastewater, providing a basic for understanding the mechanism of action of bioflocculants in the treatment of tannery wastewater.
