Résumé : |
Formulators have been called to the challenge of reformulation of waterborne coatings systems to meet new regulations. In any waterborne coating, changing solvents will affect many properties. In ambient cure (air dry) water-based systems, the temperature and humidity at which the coating is dried also impacts the film properties. Solvent replacement in coatings requires an effort to evaluate the coating for the performance characteristics required for the particular end use of that coating. The desired paint properties can be realized through appropriate reformulation. General rules for solvent reformulations will be presented and demonstrated in several industrial latex formulations. |
