Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Chitosan/poly (vinyl alcohol) (CS/PVA) blends were prepared using acyl chloride terminated hyperbranched polyester (ac-HBPE) as chemical crosslinking agent. The structural, morphological, and thermal properties of blends were examined by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The strong inter-hydrogen bonds interaction of blend components were observed using FTIR spectroscopy. XRD studies clearly show that crystallinity of CS was pretentious with increasing amount of ac-HBPE. The nature and chemical interaction of crosslinked CS/PVA blends were studied by SEM. Thermal studies confirmed that the decomposition temperature and melting point of CS/PVA blends could be improved with the addition of crosslinker. The antimicrobial performance of crosslinked CS/ PVA blends were also carried out by disk diffusion method. The results showed that crosslinked CS/PVA blends hold both antibacterial and antifungal properties. Non-regenerated (NR) and regenerated (RR) rubbers are used to investigate the effect of GTR concentration and regeneration on the blends properties containing up to 90 wt.% GTR. The blend morphology is studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to show incompatibility and low interfacial adhesion between RHD and GTR (NR and RR) especially above 40 wt.% RR. This behavior is attributed to the GTR regeneration process and agglomeration of RR particles with lower surface area and affinity toward RHD compared with NR. In all the compounds, the mechanical properties in tension of RR blends were lower than for NR blends, which is attributed to the degradation of the GTR backbone chains lowering the molecular weight (MW) during the regeneration process. Also, NR has a more important effect on impact strength improvement due to its higher crosslinked structure making the particles more deformable/elastic to absorb the mechanical energy before crack initiation. The experimental results also show that 80 wt.% GTR is the optimum concentration for the production of low cost and eco-friendly TPE based on recycled materials. The PS and PVC mixed by the solution casting by using cyclohexanone the ratios presented are 100/0,80/20,50/50,20/80 and 0/100 according to the weight of PS/PVC. Where the mixture formation is confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) respectively. The spectral FT-IR results showed that the blend of PS/PVC did not have molecular reactions. The thermal gravimetry was used to achieve the thermal stability of the polymer blends. Two degrees of glass transition temperature were observed for each mixture. The results of DSC supported the absence of miscibility in the blend. The distribution of the phases in the virgin and blends was studied through scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Subject recruitment - Data collection

Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : E-beam evaporation equipped with glancing angle deposition arrangement (GLAD) was used to fabricate nanostructured polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) films in a single-step coating process. Three sets of PTFE coatings were prepared using various oblique angles, e-beam currents, and deposition times to explore the effects of deposition parameters on the properties of PTFE nanostructured coatings. Water contact angle (WCA) of the coatings was found to be enhanced with the increase in all the above process parameters. Optical transmittance of the coatings was also found to be improved with the above parameters except for in the case of an increase in thickness of the films (in very high thickness region), where the transmittance was degraded due to light scattering from the sample surface. After all the optimizations, the ~ 130-nm-thick GLAD PTFE sample prepared with highest e-beam current was found to be more suitable for antireflection and self-cleaning applications. The single-sided coating demonstrates a very high average transmittance of ~ 95.6% (with a wideband transmittance spectrum among the others) in the visible and NIR wavelength range with excellent self-cleaning nature (WCA ~ 156°, sliding angle ~ 10°). The trend of measured WCA with respect to surface roughness follows the Cassie–Baxter model. Overall, the study demonstrates the possibility of fabricating highly transparent self-cleaning coatings using the GLAD technique, which is potentially useful for fabricating protecting cover glasses in solar panels.
