In the current study, three hydrophobic, halogen-free ionic liquids were synthesised and their capability as extracting agents was evaluated using four reactive dyes (CI Reactive Blue 4, CI Reactive Black 5, CI Reactive Orange 16 and CI Reactive Red 2). The ionic liquids, immiscible with the aqueous phase, could extract the reactive dyes from aqueous solutions, withdrawing the same amount of weight. The effects of pH and temperature on the extraction process were also studied. Trioctylmethyl ammonium ethylenediaminetetraacetate displayed a high extraction efficiency (99%), where only 33 mg of ionic liquids extracted 50 mg of CI Reactive Blue 4. Fourier Transform–infrared spectroscopy was used to screen the interaction between the ionic liquid and CI Reactive Blue 4 during the extraction stage.
(Wikipedia)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A new ultrasound-assisted lactic acid-pepsin hydrolysis method was used to extract yak hide collagen. In the extraction process, a strong mechanical vibration wave and cavitation destroyed the interaction between collagen and its matrix. Lactic acid made collagen fibres loose enough and shortened the extraction time. Lactic acid had also a certain antiseptic and bactericidal effect. Pepsin could remove the non-helical structure of yak hide collagen and reduce the risk of immune rejection of yak hide collagen. The optimum conditions of ultrasound-assisted lactic acid-pepsin hydrolysis method were as follows: At first, degreased yak hide was soaked in lactic acid solution with pH 2.0 for 24 hours and control the liquor ratio of 15. Then, acid treated yak hide was soaked in 2.0% (dry hide) pepsin solution with pH2.0 for 24 hours and control the liquor ratio of 15 under pulsating ultrasound treated with 20 KHz ultrasonic power 200 W for 20 minutes. UPYC had the characteristics of type I collagen. The new ultrasound-assisted lactic acid-pepsin hydrolysis method shortened the extraction time of UPYC, which was economical and clean. Characterization of curcumin extracts was carried out using integral analyses, namely FTIR, NMR, DSC, TGA, total phenolic content, and antioxidant assay. Corrosion-inhibitive ability of coatings doped with curcumin extracts (25, 50, 75, and 100 ppm) were evaluated via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. It was evident that sol–gel incorporated with 100 ppm ethanol extract provided more than 90% of inhibition efficiency. Coated mild steel surfaces were characterized using FTIR, SEM/EDX, and water contact angle analysis where coatings incorporated with curcumin extracts were found to be hydrophobic (θ = 100.2°). RhéologieIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Extrudate swell of industrial-grade high-molecular mass high-density polyethylenes (HDPEs) in flat/slit dies is studied using both experiments and simulations. The experimental set-up consists of an optical micrometer to measure the extrudate dimensions and a pair of radiation heaters to control the extrudate temperature outside the die attached to the capillary rheometer. The simulation of extrudate swell phenomenon is carried out by using a well-known integral K-BKZ model. The effects of several rheological characteristics, die characteristics, and processing conditions on swell measurements are studied systematically, and the corresponding two-dimensional, steady-state numerical predictions are presented in this paper. This study includes the effects of polymer molecular characteristics, apparent shear rate, die geometrical characteristics (length to die gap (L/H) and width to die gap (W/H)), and distance from the die exit. It is found that the integral K-BKZ model predicts well both the width and thickness extrudate swells. Extrudate swell measurements demonstrate that the thickness swell is predominant in comparison with width swell. Soja et constituantsIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : A biodegradable alternative material to synthetic plastics was explored in this study through the extrusion of soy protein isolate (SPI) composite films containing soy cellulose microfibers (SMF). SMF were isolated from soy pods and stems using a chemo-mechanical method. The fibers produced through successive treatments were characterized by microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared analysis. SMF/SPI composite films (0.08 to 0.3 mm thick), containing different concentrations of cellulose fibers, were produced using a single-screw extruder (0.625? screw; 24 : 1 L/D ratio; 100 – 120 min?1; 120 to 150 °C barrel temperature) and characterized. Homogenous films with uniform distribution of SMF were obtained with the highest concentration of 0.5 % w/w SMF/SPI. Increasing fiber content resulted in the formation of aggregates. As with other protein films, mechanical properties of the extruded pristine SPI and composite films were negatively affected by humidity. At the optimal concentration of 0.25 % w/w SMF/SPI, films exhibited improved mechanical performance at elevated relative humidity (84 %) when compared to the pristine SPI films.
