Titre : Graphene oxide modified dye : Preparation and its application in the gyeing of biomass-derived aldehyde-tanned chrome-free leather Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Song Guo, Auteur ; Wei Ding, Auteur ; Xiaoyan Pang, Auteur ; Zhiwen Ding, Auteur Année de publication : 2023 Article en page(s) : p. 379-385 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Tannage Résumé : In this work, a graphene oxide (GO) modified small molecule reactive dye was prepared and further applied in the dyeing of the biomass-derived aldehyde tanning agent (BAT) tanned chromefree leather for clarifying its application properties. The modified dye (GORD) was prepared by introducing Reactive Red180 (RRD180) onto the surface of GO using the dehydration condensation method. GORD was characterized using FTIR spectroscopy, UVVis spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The uptake ratios and the color fastness to sunlight of the GORDs were tested. FTIR and amino group consumption tests showed that RRD-180 was successfully grafted onto the GO lamellar structure, and the color rendering feature of the GORD was similar to that of RRD-180. The introduction of GO reduced the initial degradation temperature of GORD in the second stage (from 170ºC to 150ºC), but this did not affect the shrinkage temperature of the dyed leather. The uptake ratios of RRD-180 and GORDs were both higher than 90%, indicating that GO modification did not affect the reactive dye’s uptake by leather. Importantly, the coloring fastness to sunlight of the grain and flesh sides of the dyed leather was improved, indicating that the GORD endowed the dyed leather with a certain UV-shielding performance. This work provides new ideas for promoting the industrial applications of GO and GO-based functional materials in chrome-free leather manufacturing. ThermocinétiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Graphene oxide (GO) is a good nanofiller candidate for waterborne coatings because of its outstanding physical and mechanical properties, good dispersibility in water, and low cost relative to graphene. Here, we report on the performance of a one-part, waterborne polyurethane (WPU) nanocoating formulated with four different GO loadings ([0.4% to 2.0%] by mass). The degree of GO dispersion/adhesion was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy, laser scanning confocal microscopy, and Raman microscopy. Nanocoating performance was evaluated using a dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer for mechanical properties, a customized coulometric permeation apparatus for oxygen barrier properties, a combustion microcalorimeter for flammability, a hot disk analyzer for thermal conductivity, thermogravimetric analysis for thermal stability, and a moisture sorption analyzer for water uptake. The results show that GO sheets were well dispersed in, and have good adhesion to, WPU. At the higher mass loadings ([1.2% or 2%] by mass), GO increased the modulus and yield strength of WPU by 300% and 200%, respectively, increased the thermal conductivity by 38%, reduced the burning heat release rate (flammability) by 43%, and reduced the oxygen permeability by up to sevenfold. The presence of GO, however, increased water vapor uptake at high humidity; the moisture content of 2% mass loading GO/WPU nanocoatings at 90% RH was almost twice that of the moisture content for unfilled WPU. Overall, with the exception of water uptake at very high humidity (> 70% RH), the observed improvements in physical and mechanical properties combined with the ease of processing suggest that GO is a viable nanofiller for WPU coatings.

The change of shape is self-induced and requires no artificial energy input. In view of the increasing demand for efficiency and resource conservation, shape-changing (smart) materials offer a sensible approach to integrating functionalities into a component without giving rise to additional energy and material costs.

Rayons gammaIndex. décimale : 620.5 Nanotechnologies Résumé : The present study demonstrates a green process for the synthesis of spherical-shaped and stabilized silver nanoparticles Ag NPs using gamma irradiated conditions. This method has certain advantages over conventional methods since it can manage the particle size and structure and generates totally reduced and extremely pure nanoparticles free from by-products or chemical reducing agents. Silver nanoparticles composite (Ag NPs / CM) is prepared from an aqueous solution of silver nitrate, chitosan and isopropanol, at room temperature using gamma irradiation doses to induce reduction and cross-linking to formation in situ Ag NPs/ CM-chitosan-isopropanol solutions. The production and homogenous distribution of silver nanoparticles in the hydrogel matrix were characterized using transmission electron microscopy, XRD, Zeta potential and UV-Vis spectrophotometer analysis. The silver/ CM-chitosan-isopropanol matrixes possessed different gamma doses using a Co- 60 gamma source. Through the comprehensive results of IR- Ag NPs /(CM- chitosan isopropanol solutions due to antibacterial activity test, the results show the prepared Ag NPs /CM-chitosan-isopropanol could be used as an antibacterial agent. The obtained Ag nanoparticles were stable for over 3 months at room temperature. the analysis outcomes indicate that the colloidal Solution (silver nanoparticles / (CM chitosan - isopropanol)) has a promising ability to be used in antibacterial applications in the future. Textiles et tissus à usages techniques -- Propriétés mécaniquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Textiles are known to be the best substrates for growing a variety of microorganisms efficiently at appropriate temperatures and humidity in contact with the human body. Currently, increasing public concern about hygiene has been driving many investigations about antimicrobial surface modification of textiles. The present research reports on the synthesis and characterization of nanosized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) and their application on cotton fabric to increase the bactericidal and hydrophobic properties. The synthesized materials have been subjected to spectroscopic and microscopic characterizations to help in understanding their structure, morphology, size, and composition. Further, upon dispersion of the nanoparticles onto the fabric, its hydrophobicity and mechanical properties were evaluated using electron microscopy and universal testing machine. Treated cotton fabric exhibits higher tensile strength (32 MPa) than the untreated one (27 MPa), whereas copper nanoparticle-coated cotton fabric shows a fair hydrophobicity. Moreover, CuONPs-treated and untreated cotton fabrics have been analyzed for bactericidal activity against various gram-negative and gram-positive strains. Finally, the CuONPs-coated cotton fabric displays greater antibacterial activity against E. coli and exhibits superior antimicrobial activity even after 30 cycles of washing, indicating that the CuONPs-coated cotton fabric has a higher potential to be employed as a medical textile to avoid cross-infection within a clinical environment.
