HydrolyseIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Soju industrial biomass residue (SIBR) is a lignocellulosic agro-industrial biowaste available in large quantities in soju producing countries. In this study, an attempt was made to extract microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), a biopolymer from SIBR by controlled acid hydrolysis. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the presence of cellulose I structure with two peaks around 2? = 15 and 22.5° and increase in crystallinity after acid hydrolysis treatment. Fourier transform infrared analysis showed no significant chemical affect of the cellulose fragment. Thermo-gravimetric analysis reveals that the extracted MCC have a good thermal stability (319°C). Dynamic light scattering studies confirmed the presence of MCC in micro range (126.4 nm) which was supported by transmission electron microscopy. The results of this work are useful for extracting valuable and widely applicable cellulose, and help solve management of SIBR in terms of disposal and pollution problems. Huiles sulfatéesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The method determines that portion of free fatty acid present in the oil after sulphation, and which is in excess of the neutralising base. It is thus complementary to method SLO 2/16 which determines the total free fatty acid due to hydrolysis. The method applies particularly to ammonia or amine neutralised sulphated oils which will not titrate by the simple method SLO 2/5. Such samples are often unstable and lose ammonia fairly rapidly on standing. The method determines the un-neutralised free fatty acid at the time of the test and should be repeated if the result is required again later. Note de contenu : - Principle

* There are existing FBE formulations that can handle immersion in chemically agressive solutions at high temperatures.
* Only one product of the three tested qualified for use at high temperatures (140 C). More FBE products that can handle such higher temperatures are needed.
* Notably, there is a compromise in flexibility for high-temperature FBE coatings.
* Highly alkaline media is the most agressive to FBE coatings at high temperatures.
* Discoloration may be a sign of failure, especially when associated with changes in other properties, such as thickness (increased swelling), loss of adhesion and degrading barrier property (low impedance).
* In immersion, wet glass transition temperature may be a much lower than the dry Tg. In more agressive conditions, the gap between dry and wet Tg may be even wider.
* The type of application used for coating samples may be detrimental to tests. This claim must be investigated further.
* Because coating shops use spray application, testing samples should be sprayed or taken from actual shop application.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN AND TEST METHODOLOGY : Attenuated total reflectance -Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy - Thermal analysis - Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) - Flexibility (Bending test) - Impact resistance - Cathodic disbondment - Chemical resistance - DFT measurements - Pull-off adhesion - EIS
