In the past, the general care and hygiene of children was very much left to women, and therefore products designed to be used for children were targeted towards mothers. This meant that all aspects of the product – the packaging, the brand, the fragrance – were engineered to appeal to female senses.
Now it is more common for both parents to work and this has resulted in parenting responsibilities being shared more evenly. With traditional stereotypes in parenting changing, this has caused a disruptive impact on the parental expectations of the personal care industry and its product offerings designed for children..
Despite such changes, 50% of dads still feel left out of baby care products as they are typically aimed at mothers (Mintel). From this stems a concept from Surfachem, designed for both parents to use with their children. This innovative range of formulations enhances bonding through multisensory experiences, from scents to textures.
In addition to these stereotypes, there is also a growing demand for greener products and ingredient transparency. With 74% of parents preferring children’s personal care products that are kind to the environment, and 80% wanting to know exactly what ingredients are in them (Mintel), Surfachem’s ‘Big Kid Little Kid’ concept responds to these shifting consumer demands.Note de contenu : - Product characteristics : Engagment - Ingredient transparency - Greener products

Lingettes -- Emploi en cosmétologieIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : All of these offer great challenges to both manufacturers of ingredients and finished products. Research & development departments strive continuously to keep up with these trends and market requirements in order to develop and offer products that respect market demands, but also those of legislation. Regulatory issues such as REACH will probably never be an immediate concern for mum as she scans the shelf for the best wipe on offer at her local supermarket, but they exist and they have an effect on what does actually arrive on the supermarket shelf and its price. The industry's efforts in these areas are most certainly making the products we purchase safer, but there is a need for increased consumer awareness. It is true that any parent is concerned with their baby's wellbeing right now, but we would do well to also think about the wellbeing of our babies later on in life when they have become adults.
At the end of the day, trends and fads will come and go, but any mum or dad's concern is the present and what they can buy off the shelf the next time they go to the supermarket. Price is an issue, but consumers will continue to become more educated as to what a product contains and hopefully look beyond just the price. The industry as a whole will continue to make products safer for all of us, even those that are sublimely unaware of the research and technology that lies behind that small piece of paper mum is using to clean him up.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/13oibjub4LA_xehjcVt186N6kF1PM8gnX/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=21597

Tests de compatibilitéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : All cosmetic products must be safe, especially those intended for babies and small children. Besides national guidelines and regulations, cosmetic products in the European Union are regulated by the EU Cosmetic Products Regulation. It pays particular attention to protecting the health of vulnerable population groups and recommends a specific assessment for cosmetic products intended for use on children under the age of three years. Nevertheless, standard procedures for the evaluation of the local tolerance are not given. Due to practical and ethical reasons clinical studies on adults should be a first step of compatibility testing. To consider physiological differences notably a not yet fully developed barrier function during the first years of life, barrier function of adult skin can be intentionally compromised by gentle experimental standardized procedures prior product application. As an alternative and depending on the objective target, only pre-screened sensitive subjects are included in the investigation. After extensive pre-examination and testing in adults, tolerance and performance of the final product can also be confirmed with non-incriminating observational studies under normal in-use conditions in children under physician control. SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : With more consumers than ever concerned with the issue of sensitive skin, coupled with the general concern of many over what is in their cosmetics, it seems feasible that the growing trend for shorter INCI lists will gain traction and become a fixture of certain brands. As niche brands continue to flourish, it seems certain that we will see a growing number of products/collections for those who want attractive cosmetics that are still kind to their skin.
It is important for professionals within the industry to continue to highlight the difference between materials that are scientifically proven to lie 'mild' and those which are simply perceived as such. Public perception is swayed by attractive-sounding INCIs, marketing stories and skewed media reports leading to perfectly innocuous materials being boycotted, whilst other materials that just sound good are in high demand. Sensationalism should be counteracted with informed and educational advice in the mainstream.Note de contenu : - Surfactants types
