VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fluoroalkyl end-capped vinyltrimethoxysilane oligomer [RF-(CH2CHSi(OMe)3)n-RF ; n = 2, 3; RF = CF(CF3)OC3F7] undergoes the sol–gel reactions in the presence of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanoparticles and low molecular weight aromatic compounds (ArHs) such as bisphenol AF (BPAF) and 1-(2-naphthyl)ethanol (Naph-EtOH) under alkaline conditions at room temperature to afford the corresponding fluorinated oligomeric silica/h-BN/ArHs nanocomposites [RF-(VM-SiO3/2)n-RF/h-BN/ArHs]. TG–DTA analyses and XRD spectra measurements show that the encapsulated ArHs in the fluorinated oligomeric silica/h-BN nanocomposites exhibit an amorphous structure, affording no weight loss corresponding to the contents of the ArHs in the nanocomposites even after calcination at 800°C, although the simple blend hybrids of the RF-(VM-SiO3/2)n-RF/h-BN nanocomposites and the original ArHs provide not only the crystal characteristic toward the ArHs but also a clear weight loss behavior in proportion to the contents of the ArHs in the blend hybrids after calcination at 800°C. 1H MAS NMR spectra, UV–Vis spectra, and fluorescent spectra of the RF-(VM-SiO2)n-RF/h-BN/ArHs nanocomposites obtained through the sol–gel reactions under alkaline conditions showed the presence of the ArHs in the nanocomposites, respectively. VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : The influence of hot water and the water-carrying agent aluminum potassium sulfate dodecahydrate (alum) on the mechanical and thermal properties of the silane-water crosslinked linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) was investigated. LLDPE was melt-grafted with various content of vinyl trimethoxysilane (VTMS) using dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as initiator. The results show that the contribution of hot water to gel content is poor, about 2 to 16 %, compared with that of the silane grafted LLDPE. Is feasible to achieve silane-water crosslinking reaction with alum for self-crosslinked LLDPE; furthermore, the self-crosslinked LLDPE has lower crosslink density (m). It was found that alum could not only conduct silane-water crosslinking reaction effectively, but also improve the mechanical properties, especially the elongation behavior. The heat of fusion (DHm), the melting temperature (Tm), and the degree of crystallinity (Xc) of the hot water crosslinked LLDPE decreased with the advancement of VTMS. The Avrami exponent n of self-crosslinked sample was larger than that of hot water crosslinked sample. This means that the alum could contribute to the growth of crystallization. VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Two fluoroalkyl end-capped vinyltrimethoxysilane oligomers [RF-(CH2CHSi(OMe)3)n-RF; RF = fluoroalkyl group] can be synthesized by reaction of fluoroalkanoyl peroxides [RF-C(=O)O-O(O=)C-RF] with vinyltrimethoxysilane under mild conditions. Fluorinated oligomers thus obtained have been applied to the sol-gel reactions in the presence of a wide range of guest molecules (Guest) under non-catalytic, alkaline or acidic conditions to provide the corresponding fluorinated oligomers/Guest composites. Some of these fluorinated composites were found to exhibit a uperoleophilic/superhydrophobic characteristic on their surface, applying to not only the separation of oil and water but also the selective removal of fluorinated aromatic compounds in aqueous solutions. These findings will be reviewed in this article. Note de contenu : - Preparation and properties of fluoroalkyl end-capped vinyltrimethoxysilane oligomer/PSt and /PTFE composites

VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Hydrophilic poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was chemically modified by using fluoroalkyl end-capped vinyltrimethoxysilane oligomer [RF-(VM)n-RF] to lead the PVA/RF-(VM)n-RF composite films. The PVA/RF-(VM)n-RF composite film obtained under non-catalytic conditions was found to provide the water-soluble property; however, the acidic conditions enabled the composite film to afford no solubility toward water, giving an amphiphobic property on both the surface and reverse sides just after the deposit of an oil or water droplet. RF-(VM)n-RF oligomer was also applied to the fabrication of the PVA/RF-(VM)n-RF/B(OH)3 composite film by using the RF-(VM)n-RF/B(OH)3 nanocomposites, which were prepared by the composite reaction of RF-(VM)n-RF oligomer with boric acid. It was demonstrated that the PVA/RF-(VM)n-RF/B(OH)3 composite film obtained by the interaction of the corresponding nanocomposites with PVA under acidic conditions can afford the perfect water-resistance ability even after immersion of this film into water for 30 min to give the amphiphobic property on both the surface and reverse sides, although the corresponding PVA/RF-(VM)n-RF composite film and the pristine PVA film provided the swelling behavior toward water, respectively. Thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA) and differential thermal analyses (DTA) measurements showed that the PVA/RF-(VM)n-RF/B(OH)3 composite film can give a higher thermal stability than that of the RF-(VM)n-RF/PVA composite film and the pristine PVA film.
VinyltriméthoxysilaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the present study, vinyltrimethoxysilane was used to modify high-ortho novolac resin (NR) to obtain a vinyl silicone-modified phenolic oligomer (Si-mod NR). Subsequently, this oligomer is polymerized with methyl methacrylate. The mid-products (NR and Si-mod NR) and synthesized silicone-modified phenolic/acrylic resin (Ac/Si-mod NR) were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermal properties were investigated by using thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. In addition, the surface coating properties, including drying, hardness, adhesion, impact resistance, gloss, acid, alkaline, water, and solvent resistance of the films prepared from these products, were comparatively investigated. The results showed that the modification reactions yield a novel resin (Ac/Si-mod NR), which can be easily used as a surface coating material with high thermal resistance, flexibility, and excellent film properties.
