At present, polymer materials have been widely used in the chemical industry, architecture, medicine, food, agriculture and other industries. The synthesis of new macromolecule material and its theoretical research has been an important topic in polymer science'. Radical polymerisation is an effective method for mass production of a variety of vinyl polymers. About 70% or more of these polymers is produced by the radical polymerisation. Chain initiation is one of the important factors in the radical polymerisation, which will directly affect the quality of the product, the rate of polymerisation etc. The radical polymerisation initiation system can be summarised as peroxide initiator, azo initiator and redox initiator, difunctional and multifunctional initiators and macromolecular initiator. This paper focuses on the research progress of the radical initiators in recent years including several common water-soluble initiators, such as inorganic peroxide initiators, watersoluble azo initiators, redox initiators and composite initiators. |
