Résumé : |
Marine algae have gained much importance in cosmetic product development due to their rich bioactive compounds. In the present review, macro and micro algal compounds such as sulfated polysaccharides and essential oligo elements have been discussed concerning their application in skincare.
A cosmetic view in to the oceans ecosystem, revealing a mesmerizing and beautiful — hence astoundingly complex-world. There are plenty of them : starting from a few µm small microalgae up to the several feet long thalli of macro algae. The world of algae contains over 100.000 subspecies. Four major seaweed classes can be distinguished : rhodophyceae (red algae), phaeophyceae (brown algae), cyanophyceae (blue-green algae) and chlorophyceae (green algae). |
