The life of a protective coating system on ill prepared surfaces can be improved significantly by using a layer of highly penetrating and strongly adherent sealer coat based on 1K Moisture Cure Polyurethane which can bind and encapsulate rust tightly to form a sound base for the application of subsequent coats. The unique potential of 1K Moisture Cure Polyurethane as a rust fixation coat and its ability to enhance the performance of protective coating systems based on Moisture Cure Polyurethane and rust tolerant epoxies on manually cleaned rusty steel surface have been discussed. |
