SO 22716, GMP for cosmetic products is a comprehensive cosmetic quality management systems standard, as it :
•Integrates the typical requirements for product and process quality Good Manufacturing Practices requirements with other quality guidance, for example as laid down in the pre-requisites for ISO 9001 :
•Allows for easy implementation in organisations of all sizes and levels of complexity;
•Forms an internationally accepted basis for quality and safety compliance in the cosmetic products supply chain;
•Fosters legal compliance as adopted by regulators around the world; and
• Controls and reduces cosmetic products hazards and promotes continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
ISO 22716 combines the benefits of a business management tool linking cosmetics quality and business processes with the ability to meet growing global customer requirements for safe cosmetic products. This article provides an introduction to the ISO 22716:2007 standard on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for cosmetic products, taking on board the challenges, impact, and opportunities for GMP in the production, control, storage, and shipment of safe cosmetic products. It aims to promote the understanding of GMP for those organisations interested in implementing its specific requirements. |
