The four directions were, respectively, longitudinal tension and bending, transverse bending, and compression. The static strengths in these four directions decrease along with the increase in water absorption as well as time and temperature. The effects of water absorption on the time and temperature dependence of these static strengths can be characterized by the viscoelastic behaviour of the matrix resin. Simulation par ordinateurIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : To stay competitive and meet greenhouse gas emission targets, the aircraft industry needs to manufacture lighter and more efficient. This is why carbon fibre reinforced polymers are being introduced extensively into aircraft and aeroengine structures. However, the weight savings are being limited by factors such as the "black aluminium" approach, quasi-isotropic layup rules with minimum percentage in each fibre angle, minimum skin thickness and limitations in the material grades used. Considerable weight savings may be achieved by challenging the current design rules and introducing new material developments using thinner ply thicknesses.

Panneaux de particulesIndex. décimale : 620.19 Autres matériaux Résumé : Currently, the automotive industry is greatly marked by the growing use of natural fibres. In particular, flax fibres are widely used as an eco-friendly reinforcement in various applications, combining higher specific properties than glass fibres with interesting cost and weight reductions. In this context and according to new European environmental regulations, OEMs are looking for new alternatives in order to decrease the fuel consumption of vehicles.
