Electric vehicles require lighter materials than conventional automobiles. In order to bond these materials - carbon-reinforced plastics - automobiles manufacturers require high-performance adhesives that cure extremely quickly, while still offering ease of application. Titre : A fast guide to fast-curing floors : Methyl methacrylate (MMA) flooring systems offer many advantages for floor coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Année de publication : 2018 Langues : Américain (ame) Catégories : Colles:Adhésifs
Construction -- Matériaux
Méthacrylate de méthyle
Revêtements de sols industrielsIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Methyl methacrylate (MMA) flooring systems are fast becoming a popular choice for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects due to their many advantages. Given the right conditions, an MMA floor can reach a full physical and chemical cure within only 60 min
of installation. This means that the surface can be subjected to full operational use under an extremely tight turnaround, especially when compared to the days or weeks that most epoxy, cementitious urethane, or concrete floors take to cure.
MMA systems derive this capability from the chemical formulation of the coating, in which a methacrylic ester is combined with an organic peroxide (usually benzoyl peroxide). The organic peroxide acts as a catalyst to quickly fuse the two components together into one solid, monolithic mass. This curing mechanism contrasts to epoxies and cementitious urethanes, which take time for the separate components to combine together to form a crosslinked matrix.
Along with speeding up the whole flooring project, this fast-acting nature can make MMAs a practical choice for a number of reasons. The way in which an MMA welds itself together means that it isn’t as sensitive to cold temperatures and moisture during the critical curing period. This allows for substantially sized areas to be easily completed in conditions as low as -20°F, which is ideal for an unheated construction site or a supermarket that needs to resurface a large cold store but that doesn’t want to waste time bringing the area’s temperature up and then down again.Note de contenu : - Application advantages
