Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In this study, silk fabric samples were dyed according to various procedures with buckthorn (Rhamnus petiolaris Boiss) and walloon oak (Quercus ithaburensis Decaisne) extracts. Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with diode-array detection was utilised for the identification of dyes present in the dyed silk fabrics and the plant extracts. The extraction of dyes was carried out with a hydrochloric acid/methanol/water (2:1:1; v/v/v) mixture. The colour coordinates of the silk fabrics were measured, and the rubbing, wash and light fastness properties of the dyed silk materials were determined and are discussed.

Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Commercial microencapsulated photoresponsive dye was applied on cotton, polyester/cotton and polyester fabric using a pad-dry-cure process. Colour fastness of the photoresponsive fabrics to washing, wet cleaning, dry cleaning, rubbing and light was investigated. The CIELAB colour values of the fabrics before and after testing were measured using a reflectance spectrophotometer, and the colour differences were calculated to evaluate the fastness properties. The fabrics had better colour fastness to wet cleaning and washing than to dry cleaning. The fabrics showed higher colour fastness to wet than to dry rubbing. The photoresponsiveness of the fabrics decreased with prolonged exposure time to artificial light due to low photostability of the microcapsules. Trisodium nitrilotriacétateIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : This paper presents results on the use of trisodium nitrilo triacetate, a biodegradable alkaline organic salt, for pad–steam dyeing of cotton with reactive dyes as a replacement for conventionally used inorganic electrolyte and alkali. Two widely used dyes, CI Reactive Red 147 and CI Reactive Blue 250, were used in the study. The colour yield, dye fixation and ultimate colour fastness achieved by using trisodium nitrilo triacetate were closely comparable with those obtained by using inorganic electrolyte and alkali. The tensile breaking force and wrinkle recovery angle of the dyed fabrics were also measured and were slightly improved when using organic salt. Additionally, the dyeing effluent showed reductions in total dissolved solids content with trisodium nitrilo triacetate. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Wool fabrics can be dyed with synthetic dyes and even with natural dyes. To present a different aspect to the coloration of wool, the current study was focused on a topping process (ie, the dyeing of wool that was already dyed) with different natural dye sources. For this purpose, the fabrics that were already dyed with a natural dye source were once again dyed with two different natural dyes. In bottom dyeing (bottoming), fabrics were dyed with hops (Humulus lupulus L.) in the presence of different mordanting agents. Then the dyed, washed and dried samples were once again dyed (topping) with two different natural dye sources. For topping, powdered madder and acorn were tested in direct dyeing of wool samples. Finally, the colour changes were analysed with the use of a spectrophotometer. The study demonstrates that such a process (ie, bottoming with hops in the presence of different mordanting agents and then topping with madder or acorn) can be a way of obtaining different shades and colours with sufficient/good fastness values by natural dyeing.
Spiro-orthosilicatesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Spiro-orthosilicates, prepared from tetraethyl orthosilicate and a diol (2-butyl-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol or 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol), are used as latent reactive diluents in two-pack polyurethane coatings. A fast curing and long pot life have been achieved because of the latency in the can. Spiroorthosilicates hydrolyse with moisture into a diol and a polysiloxane. Kinetic data on hydrolysis and curing are given. The formation of polysiloxane has been characterised by solid-state29Si NMR. The film properties obtained are excellent. The spiro-orthosilicates-based films are tested as clear coats for car refinishes. In particular, a very good car wash resistance has been obtained, which is combined with other properties, also at a good, competitive level.
