In each instance, the addition of the polyisocyanate crosslinker improved the elevated temperature performance of the two component adhesive.
As with most two component systems, polyisocyanate crosslinkers have pot life issues that need to be managed in order to obtain peak performance. Crosslinkers are available with a range of reactivities, hydrophilic content and cost that allow performance to be adjusted for the specific adhesive application.Note de contenu : - Polyisocyanate

Polyurethane-, silicone-, and silyl-terminated polyether (STPE)-based materials enjoy substantial market share in sealant applications due to their superb flexibility and adhesive characteristics, while epoxy products have remained a dominant force in adhesive applications due to their outstanding strength and good adhesion properties after surface treatment.
While these chemistries can meet most application requirements, performance gaps still need to be filled that require a balance of strength, flexibility, and adhesion. Examples of such opportunities include a primer that can endure structural movement and an adhesive that can withstand substrate vibrations or oscillations.
STPEs have an established history and are known to provide benefits such as being free of solvents and isocyanate while offering primerless adhesion to a wide range of materials, including metals, wood, glass, and many plastics. A more recent development by Kaneka North America LLC is to combine MS Polymer™, an STPE, with epoxy technology as a two-component (2K) system to provide a balance of high-strength performance and flexibility. The cured compound also provides bonding properties similar to traditional epoxy materials.Note de contenu : - Curing mechanism

Given these unique benefits, 2K STPE/ Epoxy systems can be used as a flexible primer in a multilayer waterproofing system to better accommodate structural movement, or as a high strength, flexible adhesive to withstand substrate movement. Moreover, the exceptional wet adhesion retention on concrete indicated that a 2K STPE/Epoxy formulation could provide improved adhesion performance to structures where frequent water exposure might be an issue. Kaneka's 2K STPE/ Epoxy technology might be the solution that could resolve a multitude of unmet needs in both the construction and the industrial markets. Note de contenu : - Impact of additives

Matériaux -- Application-dosageIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Mixing and dosing stations based on the “endless piston principle” allow reliable precision dosing of two-component materials. Compared to conventionally applied systems, this new application technology can offer excellent dosing repeatability of medium- to high-viscosity adhesives and sealants.
Modern production processes increasingly involve two-component materials. The automobile industry tops the list, followed by the manufacture of electronics, solar technology, aircraft, trucks, sports goods, commodities and even clothing. All of these industries rely on adhesives, sealants, fillers and other insulating materials that are made from two-component materials.
The most significant feature of two-component processing is that mixing both components in their correct proportions enables the adhesives to cure to reach their ultimate strength at the production stage, and not before. This offers considerable advantages for the storage of raw materials, as well as the application process itself.Note de contenu : - Rheology demands flexibility
