Simulation par ordinateurIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The properties of foams are primarily determined by their reactive processing. New simulation methods with wide-ranging material models are designed both to calculate the foaming process and predict the resulting foam properties. Specific examples already show extensive correlations between simulation and practice. Note de contenu : - Simulation of mold filling during the foaming process
- Chemical reaction and foam expansion
- Derivation of component properties from foaming simulation
- From behavior of the foam
- Simulation of mold filling behavior in the real component
- Fig. : Foaming simulation: injection of a BASF Elastoflex E foam into an open mold and the resulting filling pattern 20 s later. Based on CAD data for the finished component, the foaming simulation (red : areas of high material stress) helps to find the best possible injection path, improve the foaming position or evaluate the venting concept
- Fig. 1 : The calculated density distribution of a BASF Elastofoam I foam shows the typical density gradient for integral skin foams over the component cross section. The spatial density distribution is the decisive factor determining local stiffness and hardness in the steering wheel

- Fig. 3. Local stresses resulting from micromechanical simulation on a foam unit cell. This uses a statistical distribution of gas bubbles for a given density, with the aid of which the elastic modulus of the foam can be predicted
- Fig. 4. Filling study to validate the Ultrasim simulation model used for a steering wheel made from an Elastofoam I foam. In the simulation and actual trial, both the flow fronts and tiny air inclusions above the center spoke correlate well and confirm the material models and parameters usedEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gycBHvUa_g34XAcxyd6C9u23VYwhVDde/view?usp=drive [...]

Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Thermoplastic particle foams are known for their excellent thermal insulation ability and outstanding lightweight construction potential. They combine low density in the range of 15 to 80 kg/m3 with good mechanical properties and high specific energy absorption. By means of innovative surface modifications, they are also gaining in importance in the “design” and “automotive interior” fields. Note de contenu : - Characteristic surface

Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Decompression experiments from a PMMA compound saturated with CO2 at high pressure were performed to investigate the heterogeneous effect due to the aggregate of the additives on the microcellular foam structure generated. The observed results were compared with calculation results from a previously proposed homogeneous nucleation model. Uniform distribution of foams was obtained at a lower temperature of T = 20°C at various initial pressures tested. However, the heterogeneous effect due to the aggregate of the additives in the compound occurred at the solution temperature of T = 40°C, which is quite different from the results obtained in PMMA/CO2 solution where homogeneous nucleation occurs in the temperature range between 40°C and 70°C. Experimental results obtained in this study may be applied to the injection-molding process of PMMA compounds.
