Polyurethane dispersions and acrylic emulsions are viable alternatives to conventional solvated products and, when reacted with H. B. Fuller's proprietary crosslinkers, they have properties that often exceed the solventborne systems. In addition, third generation solventless adhesives are an alternative technology to dry bond laminating that also enables a converter to meet rapidly changing environmental and perdormance standards. The benefits of using the nonionic diol, in terms of tolerance of the resulting dispersion against electrolytes and shear forces, have been investigated. In addition, the tolerance of the resulting polyurethane coating against polar solvents has also been studied. The nonionic diol was observed to be an efficient dispersant, functioning well together with anionic stabilization in the form of Bis-MPA (dimethylol propionic acid). The lateral positioning of the nonionic segments was observed to greatly improve the dispersion stability and reduce the sensitivity of the corresponding polyurethane coating to solvents. A comparative study between nonionic & anionic PUD clearly shows that nonionic stabilization provides more electrolytic & shear stability. Note de contenu : - PREPARATION OF POLYURETHANE DISPERSION

Potentiel zeta
RhéologieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : We will now discuss an important property of Emulsion Polymer ; known as Zeta Potential in the context of Emulsion property it is very important. Zeta potential is a scientific term for electro kinetic potential in colloidal dispersions. In the colloidal chemistry literature, it is usually denoted using the
Greek letter zeta hence -potential. From a theoretical
viewpoint, the zeta potential is the electric potential in the interfacial double layer (DL) at the location of the slipping plane relative to a point in the bulk fluid away from the interface. In other words, zeta potential is the potential difference between the dispersion medium and the stationary layer of fluid attached to the dispersed particle.Note de contenu : - Calculation of zeta potential : Early pioneering work in that direction dates back to overbeek and booth
