It was shown how the rheology, surface tension, viscosity, and particle size of suspensions were affected by the length of polyol solvent and dispersants. The effect of ethylene glycols, diethylene glycol (DEG), triethylene glycol, and tetraethylene glycol as solvents, as well as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as dispersants on the ink properties was investigated. The X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), electron microscopy (FESEM/TEM) and dynamic light scattering analyses were performed to characterize the features of nanopigments. Crystalline V–ZrSiO4 nanopigment was obtained at 1100°C by DEG solvent in the presence of PVP. The sizes of the resulting nanoparticles were in the range of 10–50 nm. The achieved suspensions were tested as ceramic inks on a tile, and the colorimetric CIELAB parameters were measured. The CIE L*a*b* values confirmed the blue color. The surface tension and viscosity of prepared ceramic ink, as well as microstructure of the annealed nanopigments, were in the range required for drop-on-demand inkjet printers. Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Acrylic latexes with epoxy and carboxyl groups have been synthesized via a two-stage emulsion polymerization process. Different contents of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) were introduced by three addition modes to copolymerize with methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate, acrylic acid (AA) in the presence of K2S2O8. To obtain stable latexes, NaHCO3 was employed as a buffer to compensate for the acidity from the thermal dissociation of K2S2O8, and triethylamine was used to neutralize the carboxyl acid from AA. The results showed that the stable latexes with core/shell structure were synthesized by this method, and higher GMA content or addition at earlier stage led to forming the latexes with higher content of coagulum and bigger sized particles. During the formation of films, the polymer epoxy groups underwent the crosslinking reaction with carboxyl acid. When the GMA content increased or GMA was introduced at a later stage, high crosslinking extent was formed in the films. As a result, the crosslinking provided the films with improved water resistance, chemical resistance, tensile strength, hardness, abrasion resistance, and thermal stability. Epoxy coatings have many excellent properties, such as adhesion, corrosion resistance and hardness. However, bath solventborne epoxies and lower-VOC waterborne analogs have deficiencies such as brittleness, short potlives and must notably, pour durability towards UV light. Due to their pour weathering characteristics, epoxies tend tu chalk, yellow and lose gloss quickly when exposed to sunlight. A hybrid technology has been described that maintains the best qualities of epoxy chemistry, while im¬proving upon some of its weaknesses such as flexibility and UV durability. The hybrid technology joins acrylic and epoxy chemistries into a single waterborne offering that can then be formulated into 2K waterborne coatings for steel and concrete. The AEH represents a new method for supplying epoxy resin into a mixed 2K coating. The epoxy resin is hosted in acrylic latex particles and becomes available for cross-linking with a hardener after water begins to leave the film and particle coalescence starts. The AEH system is versatile in that either acid-functional acrylic or amine hardeners can be used. The result is a coating technology with a unique balance of properties, including long potlife, excellent corrosion resistance, good flexibility, and excellent UV durability and weatherability.

Solvants organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Enzymes are biological molecules which catalyse biological reactions. Enzymes and their biological reactions include study of bio-polymerisation by chemical kinetics of enzymatic ring opening polymerisation and radical initiated polymerisation mechanism. Enzyme also catalyses grafting of bio materials like lignin, starch and chitosan. However enzymatic polymerisation has limitations of enzyme activity and stability. Hence approaches like immobilisations, encapsulation and use of organic media were reviewed to enhance reactivity of enzymes. Various challenges in industrial applications and troubleshooting are established. Enzyme not only polymerises but also shows degradation mechanism for polymers which opens area of sustainability for coating industry.
