Tannage Résumé : Phenolic syntans possessing methylene linkages between phenolic nuclei are susceptible to auto-oxidation producing coloured quinonoid compounds. In this respect, syntans having bridging groups like dimethylcarbamide. sulphomethyl, sulphone. sulphonamide and propylene are known to exhibit better resistance to auto-oxidation. In the present investigation, studies have been carried out to synthesise and characterise a syntan in which phenolic nuclei are linked together by a dimethyl carbamide group. Phenol was condensed with dimethylolurea and the resulting resin was subsequently sulphonated with concentrated sulphuric acid. Both phenol-dimethylolurea resin and its sulphonated product were characterised by chromatographic and spectral methods. The syntan was prepared by mutual neutralization of sulphonated and sulphomethylated phenol dimethylolurea resin to a desired pH. The syntan was subjected to chemical analysis and assessed for light fastness characteristics. Nanotubes de carbone à parois multiplesUn nanotube de carbone multifeuillet est constitué de plusieurs feuillets de graphènes enroulés les uns autour des autres. Il existe deux modèles pour décrire la structure des nanotubes multifeuillets :
- le modèle poupée russe: les plans de graphène sont arrangés en cylindres concentriques ;
- le modèle parchemin: un seul feuillet de graphène est enroulé sur lui-même, comme une feuille de papier.

Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) were prepared by treating multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) with concentrated sulfuric acid (H,SO4) and concentrated nitric acid (HNO3) at a volume ratio of 3:1. Afterwards, taking MWCNT-COOH as the modified materials and aziridine (AZ) as the cross-linking agents were added to polyether-based waterborne polyurethane (WPU) thus preparing waterborne polyurethane modified by cross-linking of aziridine/carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (AZ-MWCNT-COOH-WPU) emulsion and films. The latter was applied to the surface treatment of natural leather and synthetic leather and other coating materials. The effects of different AZ contents on the water resistance and mechanical properties of AZ-MWCNT-COOH-WPU films were analysed and are discussed. The synthesised product was characterised by FTIR, XRD, SEM and other detection methods. The results showed that AZ successfully grafted MWCNT-COOH to the molecular chain of WPU and, when the content of AZ increased, the tensile strength of AZ-MWCNT-COOH-WPU film increased, firstly from 14.8MPa to 21.8MPa and then decreased to 12.1MPa. Elongation at break decreased from 570.2% to 198.4%, the water absorption decreased from 108.9% to 2.4% thus the water resistance was enhanced. Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A matting waterborne polyurethane (MWPU) emulsion was prepared using polybutadiene diol (HTPB), polybutylene adipate diol (PBA) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) as the main raw materials, dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA) as a hydrophilic chain extender and ethylene diamine as a post chain extender, this was applied to the surface treatment of the leather. The surface microstructure of the MWPU film was studied by SEM. The results showed that when the content of HTPB increased, the particle size of MWPU emulsion increased, the stability decreased, the mechanical properties and surface roughness of MWPU film increased, the elongation at break, water absorption and light transmittance decreased. Combined with the matting effect, the gloss of the MWPU film was as low as 23GU, and the surface particles of the film were more obvious. The folding fastness was free from cracking, and the abrasion resistance could reach 154 circles [rubs], which meets the testing standard of leather. Produits de nourriture du cuirIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A castor oil-based fatliquoring agent for use in leather coating was prepared via Pickering emulsions stabilized by metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). The partially oxidized ZIF-8 (POZIF-8) nanoparticles were used as MOF in the presence of a castor oil-based dispersant. The results of the stability test showed that the presence of POZIF-8 nanoparticles leads to a stable oil/water emulsion with higher oil content than other nanoparticles, such as TiO2 and ZnO. The stabilized structure of the prepared fatliquoring agent was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM image indicated that the castor oil either was surrounded or was encapsulated by MOF. The prepared fatliquoring agent was applied to the leather. Then, in order to prove the existence of POZIF-8 nanoparticles in collagen fibers, the cross section of the fatliquored leather was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). These analyses revealed the good dispersion of POZIF-8 nanoparticles from grain to flesh side. The physical and mechanical properties of the fatliquored leather were compared with those of the control leather sample, which was fatliquored by a conventional agent. The results show that the prepared fatliquoring agent significantly improved mechanical properties, lightfastness, softness, and fullness of leather.
