Surface‐modified polyester fibre was prepared either by oxygen plasma treatment or with a sol‐gel method using 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS). The surface‐modified polyester fibre was dip‐coated with 20 wt.% water suspension of uniform‐sized silica particles with a diameter of 300 nm and then it was dried. Hexagonal and square arrangements were observed for the particles deposited on the fibre surface by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The crystallinity of deposited particles was estimated with the number ratio of arranged particles to all particles in the SEM image. On the plasma‐treated fibre, the crystallinity of deposited particles was 82% and the ratio of hexagonal arrangement to square arrangement was 3:1. On the APS‐treated fibre, crystallinity was 56% and the ratio was 1:8. The fibre‐fabricated colloidal crystal exhibited red colour on its surface and it had a peak wavelength of 637 nm in the reflection spectrum. Note de contenu : - Materials

Spectres d'absorptionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A commercial leather dye was encapsulated into silica by simple microemulsion technique and applied as dyeing agent in leather dyeing process. Comparative studies on the performance of free dye (non-encapsulated) towards encapsulated dye are evaluated. The resultant formation of nanospheres contain dye inside the silica matrix was investigated by UV-Visible, TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) and DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering) measurement. The confinement effect was identified by the formation of spherical particles of the silica through encapsulation. On whole the spectroscopic studies showed that the formed silica nanospheres are stable enough to utilize as dyeing agent in leather dyeing process. The performance of encapsulated nanospheres was evaluated by utilizing as dyeing agent for upper and garment leather processing. The dye entrapped inside the silica spheres had better affinity towards the leather as demonstrated by their uniform penetration throughout its cross section and its surface coloring. The dyeing properties of the encapsulated dye were appraised by color and fastness measurement. The results showed that the dyeing characteristics of the experimental leathers were greatly improved by using encapsulated dyes versus their control leathers. Hence the idea of supporting commercial dye on/inside polymeric silica substrate enriched the leather dyeing characteristics and provide the clue for any dye for any substrate.r Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Synthesis of nanocolloids contain dye encapsulated silica nanospheres - Characterization of encapsulated dye containing silica nanospheres - Evaluation of encapsulated dyes in leather dyeing - Photograph of the leather surface and cross section - Measurement of reflectance of coloured leather - Fastness property of coloured leather - Analysis of permeability of leather - Softness measurement of coloured leather

Strength and elongation properties of polyester (PET) filaments were measured by electronic single fiber strength tester, and dynamic mechanical properties of STG doped with different lengths of PET flocks were tested using dynamic mechanical analyzer. Results showed that polyester flocks with proper strength could improve the dynamic mechanical properties of STG and have a toughening effect, and longer flocks under low shear frequency enhanced the effects, but that with high shear frequency oppositely decreased the effects. Note de contenu : - Architectures et interactions

TempératureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In many applications, water-based dispersions of polymeric particles are dried under well-defined environmental conditions and/or technologies to form a continuous thin layer with special properties and morphology. The aim of this work is to present a recently developed noninvasive technique based on optical reflectometry in visible range used to study the film formation from aqueous mixtures layered up to 25 μm thickness. The sample holder is made of crystalline silicon (c-Si) because the interference fringes generated by the optical beams reflected at the air/liquid sample and liquid sample/c-Si are vital in determining the sample thickness. For the polymeric colloids with minimum film formation temperature higher than the room temperature, the setup is used to determine the evaporation rate and the temperature film formation. The versatility of the experimental setup is increased by a controlled temperature of the sample holder and a controlled microclimate chamber (temperature and relative humidity). Investigations on various aqueous dispersions considering the composition, the viscosity of the liquid, and different types of polymeric colloidal particles have been performed, and some results are discussed here. New challenges lie in analyzing the outputs of the experiments considering the interparticle distance and interparticle interferences.
