Textiles et tissus -- Industrie -- Aspect de l'environnementIndex. décimale : 677.46 Cellulosiques : rayonnes, acetates Résumé : The introduction of a sustainable bio-economy in the textile industry requires not only the conversion to environmentally friendly production processes, but also the substitution of petroleum-based plastics with bio-based renewable raw materials. Fibers made of cellulose already represent the largest share in the production of bio-based fibers and offer very high potential due to the diverse sources of raw materials as well as their properties, which enable a wide range of applications from comfortable clothing to high-strength technical textiles. In order to find out how increased production can be achieved and where there is still room for improvement, the Institute for Textile Technology of RWTH Aachen University (ITA) has conducted a survey on cellulose fibers among well-known players in the textile industry and research and has compiled a comprehensive opinion poli. The results are presented in this article and discussed under the aspects of achieving a higher market volume for cellulose fibers, sustainable spinning processes and targeted communication between industry and science. In this context, possible research needs have been identified and structural and communication problems, which hinder the implementation, have been worked out.
Textiles et tissus -- Industrie et commerce -- RépertoiresIndex. décimale : 677 Textiles Résumé : Starting with polyester fibers in edition 3/2021 Chemical Fibers International presents an extensive list of European fiber manufacturers, broken down by fiber type and location. The list is based on a survey by the editorial department of Chemical Fibers International, on information provided by the companies on their websites and on our own research. Included are the companies in Greater Europe (including Russia and Turkey) which manufacture fibers and yarns directly from polymers, regardless of whether these fibers are sold or processed within the company. Pure manufacturers of spunbond and meltblown nonwovens are not included. There is no daim to completeness and correctness of the table.
In this issue we finish our series with the presentation of producers of cellulosicfibers, other bio-based man-made fibers, elastane fibers and protein fibers. Furthermore, we present an extensive list of European producers of monofilaments.
An updated list of European fiber manufacturers will be published at regular intertvals.Note de contenu : - Elastane fibers

ViscoseIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : There is a global demand for constant increase in the production of textile fibres. Currently, the market for cellulosic fibres is dominated by cotton and viscose fibres. However, new alternative cellulosic fibres are being sought to meet the growing demand. The dyeing properties of novel fibres aiming at the marketplace are among the properties that determine their applicability to textiles. Recently, a novel process for producing cellulosic fibres, the Biocelsol process, has been scaled up so that the spinning of yarn from Biocelsol fibres is now possible. In this study, the reactive dye Levafix CA Blue was applied to cellulosic fabrics made from viscose, cotton, and Biocelsol yarns. The crystalline structure and morphology of the fibres were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and field-emission scanning electron microscopy. The crystalline structure and morphology of the Biocelsol fibres resembled those of viscose fibres, but, owing to higher water absorption, the Biocelsol fabric had a higher dye exhaustion. The colour yield of the Biocelsol fabric was 62% and 41% higher than that of cotton and viscose fabrics respectively, suggesting that less dye is needed to gain a shade in Biocelsol fabric than in viscose and cotton fabrics. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Electrospun nanofibrous mats are popular for their wide technological applications as medical, filtration, sensing and high performance textiles. The potential for coloration of electrospun nanofibrous mats for aesthetic purposes has also been explored recently, and the pigment coloration of cellulose electrospun nanofibrous mats is reported for the first time in this paper. Cellulose acetate electrospun nanofibrous mats were fabricated using electrospinning followed by treatment with sodium hydroxide to synthesise regenerated cellulose electrospun nanofibrous mats. Then the cellulose mats were coloured with commercially available pigments by a pad‐dry‐bake method. Excellent K/S and colour fastness to both washing and light were produced with the application of three commercial pigments. The pH and total dissolved solids content of the coloration wastewater, as well as the mechanical properties of the electrospun nanofibrous mats, were also tested. Attenuated total reflection‐Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy analysis were used for characterisation. Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 677.46 Cellulosiques : rayonnes, acetates Résumé : Comfort is one of the most important aspects of clothing. Fabric hand and touch feel along with its warm and cool feeling are very important properties, as a result of which a human can feel comfort or discomfort in various activities and environmental conditions. In this paper, the comfort properties of fabrics made from different man-made cellulosic fibers (MMCF) produce by Birla Cellulose, Mumbai/India, such as viscose, modal and Excel lyocell in comparison to conventional fibers such as cotton and polyester were studied. In the experimental study the most common method, Kawabata evaluation system for fabric (KES-FB), was used to evaluate objective hand-feel of fabrics made from different fibers along with its air-permeability, fabric coolness/warmth (Qmax) and moisture management properties. Analysis of test data demonstrated that the content of fabric significantly influences the comfort properties. Excel fabric showing best total hand value (THV) among all 3 man-made cellulosic fabrics (Excel, modal and viscose) followed by cotton and polyester fabric. Note de contenu : - MATERIALS
