Traitement thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Superhydrophobic materials are known for their vast range of applications and properties. We present a simple process to fabricate a superhydrophobic coating on 6061Al alloy via a route with chemical replacement and heat treatment. Through this route, a hierarchical morphology including microparticles and leaf-like microstructures was obtained and, upon modification by stearic acid, the prepared coatings show good water repellency with a water contact angle of 159.2 ± 0.3° and sliding angle of 4.5 ± 1.5°. Systematic studies have been conducted on the coatings fabricated under different processing conditions to obtain the best experimental parameters, and demonstrate the reaction mechanism and the good self-cleaning effect. The 3D simulated coating topography was characterized by Leica DCM 3D in the mesoscopic scale. Based on the topography, the simplified ideal truncated cone model and theoretical equation were obtained. According to the model, a qualitative result was drawn: the higher and sharper the convex structures are, the better is the superhydrophobicity. Furthermore, the presented process can be applied to larger, stable coatings with the controllable wettability for diverse applications. They were then electrodeposited on mild steel surfaces by the use of rotating disc electrodes. The deposition potentials were determined from cyclic voltammetric i-E scans. The metal films deposited on mild steel surfaces were characterized with atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and ion chromatography (IC) methods. Although the stoichiometric quantity of M2 metal cation was half of the M1 metal cation in the complex, the amount of M2 metal deposited upon the surface was markedly greater. The amount of M2 ion deposited on the surface was found to increase with the hardness of the ion. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed that the excessively deposited metal on the surface was in metallic form as well as alloy. The size of the deposited film particles was investigated by the use of atomic force microscope (AFM) technique and the particles were observed to be bigger than nanoparticle size. Test d'immersionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To address the problem of rapid corrosion of magnesium (Mg) alloys, a biodegradable polymer film of polycaprolactone (PCL) with KH550 as silane coupling agent (SCA) was coated on Mg substrate. The effect of the coating was analyzed using electrochemical tests (potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) and immersion tests (hydrogen evaluation tests and scratch tests). The electrochemical tests showed that the corrosion resistance was extremely improved (by nearly two orders for icorr and 1.04 V for Ecorr), and the immersion tests illustrated that the connection between PCL and Mg substrate was enhanced as well (especially in scratch tests), thus indicating significant improvement of the corrosion resistance of SCA-pretreated PCL polymer samples. In summary, SCA-pretreated PCL is a promising coating to decrease the degradation behavior of Mg substrate. Titre : Small is beautiful - for longer : Europe-wide project develops new approaches to corrosion protection Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Matthias Wittmar, Auteur ; Michael Veith, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 100-105 Note générale : Bibliogr.
