Spectroscopie d'impédance électrochimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, the atmospheric corrosive protection characteristics of four organic coatings were modeled based on the evolution of low-frequency impedance (|Z|ω→0) over time when subjected to accelerated tests and outdoor exposures. Environmental characteristics such as the time of wetness, chloride and sulfate depositions, and ultraviolet radiation were defined as explanatory variables. The results obtained helped to establish a relationship between |Z|ω→0, acquired from electrochemical impedance spectra, and the explanatory variables. An adjustment factor was calculated for each coating against the most aggressive natural exposure, resulting in a good prediction of |Z|ω→0 and the performance of the coatings for other outdoor tests. Revêtements en bâtiment:Peinture en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A recently developed xenon arc-based accelerated weathering cycle, ASTM D7869-13, has been validated for automotive and aerospace coatings, but its ability to predict the gloss and color retention of premium architectural finishes has not yet been evaluated. We review new weathering data comparing the performance of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) architectural finishes in south Florida exposure as well as several accelerated exposure methods including ASTM D7869-13. ASTM D7869 accurately reproduced Florida rank order gloss and color retention trends for coatings made with PVDF-acrylic blends and inorganic pigments, as well as the gloss and color changes seen in Florida for 70% PVDF masstone coatings made with a number of single organic pigments. However, the D7869 cycle has difficulty predicting the rank order of rutile TiO2 grades for the gloss retention of PVDF coatings in Florida, as well as the magnitude and direction of color fade from organic pigment degradation in organic pigment/inorganic pigment blends. One open question that remains is whether the ASTM D7869 cycle might have some utility for industry standard or specification purposes, if the test is limited to specific reference colors or more ideally to specific reference pigments. Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Adhesive bonding is experiencing a significant increase in its use in various industrial fields, thanks to the numerous advantages it offers, such as a better distribution of stresses in the resulting structure. This aspect is of importance for joints between composite substrates, which are not very resistant to concentrated stresses. The aim of this work is to present a simplified method for predicting the failure load of a single-lap adhesive joint. This theoretical model is applied to the results of an experimental study to verify the effectiveness of the adhesive bond between pultruded GFRP adherends. The results of shear tests on specimens assembled with different adhesives and subjected to different artificial ageing conditions are reported. The experimental results recorded by shear tests were processed by the simplified shear-slip model based on fracture energy. The obtained experimental results are compared with the theoretical values obtained using the analysis of the cohesive zone model theory. Then, a simple computational model is proposed for the evaluation and design of the ultimate load in single-lap adhesive joints.
