Tanins végétauxIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The main aim of this study is to carry out a qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of tannin extracts as an alternative to the official analysis method ISO 14088 – IUC 32, so that a correlation between the two methods is established.
From the point of view of the chemical composition, tannins are classified into two major groups :
i) condensed tannins, also called flavanols or catechins, and ii) hydrolysable tannins, also called pyrogallic tannins.
Today, the most widely used conventional extracts are quebracho, mimosa, chestnut, and tara. Quebracho and mimosa are condensed tannins, whereas chestnut and tara are hydrolysable tannins.
The following extracts were used in this study: tara powder, commercial mimosa and quebracho extracts and extracts derived from grape seed, containing both condensed and hydrolysable extracts.
The development of this new method will allow a faster and less expensive estimate of the amount of tannins present in a tannin extract.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Introduction - Obtaining grape seed extract - HPLC method for determination of tannins

Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Reported herein are the results of an analysis of the compatibility of three methods for quantifying the non-adsorbed forms of reactive dyes, in an exhausted dyebath, of the type monochlorotriazine/β-sulphatoethylsulphone used in dyeing cellulosic fibres (cotton). The first method is based on spectrophotometric analysis and involves measuring the absorbance of the residual dyebath (after the dyeing process), the second is based on colorimetric analysis and involves measuring the reflectance of the dyed fabric and the third is based on high-performance liquid chromatography. The purpose of the latter is to identify and quantify the non-adsorbed dye forms in the residual dyebath. The calculated exhaustion values unequivocally prove the reliability and compatibility of these methods.
solvantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The increasing consumer demand for more natural cosmetics is a continuing global trend. The manufacturers of cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients therefore share a common goal : finding cost-effective bio-based ingredients that work as well as their petrochemical-derived counterparts. Recently, a nature-derived version of the popular synthetic alkanediol "pentylene glycol" has become available on an industrial scale at a competitive price (trade name: "Pentiol Green+", by Minasolve). It is produced on the basis of corn cabs and sugarcane bagasse and provides the same multi-functionality as its petrochemical equivalent : skin moisturization, emolliency and antimicrobial protection. However, the novel natural origin of pentylene glycol makes it possible to also use it in eco-labelled products. It increases the degree of naturality of cosmetics and reduces their carbon footprint. Furthermore, being an eco-sourced solvent, "green" pentylene glycol provides added value for extracting plant materials. Note de contenu : - Sustainable production
