ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A core‐shell acrylate binder for pigment printing containing acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate (AAEM) in its shell was synthesised via semicontinuous seeded emulsion polymerisation. Self‐crosslinking occurs when curing at low temperatures without releasing formaldehyde. The core‐shell structure of the binder produces prints with a high block resistance and good film‐forming properties, which can avoid clogging the screens during the printing process and help to acquire a soft handle for textiles. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis demonstrated that the latex particle had a core‐shell structure of size ca. 120 nm. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) testing showed that polyacrylate (PA)‐modified AAEM exhibited two apparent Tg, providing further information about the formation of the soft core‐hard shell latex particles. Crosslinking degree tests, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and testing of the mechanical properties indicated that self‐crosslinking of AAEM took place at 100 °C, thereby enhancing the thermostability and mechanical properties of the latex films. The softer and non‐stick handle, excellent rubbing fastness, and higher K/S were obtained by further padding the printed fabric with amino silicon softener. The chemical structures of the surfaces of the printed fabrics were studied by Fourier Transform‐infrared (FTIR), and results confirmed that the crosslinking reaction between the amino of the softener and remaining acetoacetoxy functional group (AcAc) of AAEM had taken place. Polymérisation en émulsionIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A cationic polyacrylate emulsion (CPAE) with a core-shell structure was prepared by seed polymerization. The emulsion copolymerization was carried out with the core monomoers of butyl acrylate (BA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA), the shell monomers of BA, MMA, and a home-made cationic monomer with the initiator potassium persulfate. The structure of CPAE was characterized. No 'C=C' double bond was detected in the structure of CPAE by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectra, indicating that the polymerization reaction was complete. DSC curves showed that there were two glass transition temperature in the structure of CPAE, indicating that the emulsion particle featured a core-shell structure. The core-shell structure of CPAE was also confirmed by TEM observation. Many improvements to the coating properties emerged when CPAE was used as a leather finishing agent. The result leathers has uniform and clean grain and comfortable handle. The coating had strong adhesion and its resistance to wet and dry rub fastness was up to grade 4.5.

Rupture (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Premature fracture and splitting of human head hair is cosmetically undesirable and at worse, unsightly. It is often regarded both by the hair’s owner and by others as indicative of hair in poor condition and attracts considerable expenditure on hair toiletry products in sometimes vague attempts to prevent or repair the damage.
This paper defines the mechanical events which underlie the fracture of hairs as they occur on the head and insofar as they satisfy the different fracture morphologies seen under the scanning electron microscope. Factors affecting propensity for fracture are considered. A significant conclusion is that hair ’strength’, as might be assessed by the consumer, has little to do with the tensile mechanical properties of the fibres but that bending and associated longitudinal shear processes are of much greater relevance.DOI : 10.1046/j.1467-2494.1999.186942.x En ligne : https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1046/j.1467-2494.1999.186942.x Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26481

Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The aim of the present work was to study the effect of microstructure and microfibril formation on dyeability of polypropylene/poly(butylene terephthalate)/organoclay blend nanocomposite fibres. The blend nanocomposite samples with the same blend ratio but varying in organoclay content were prepared via melt compounding by using a co-rotating twin screw extruder. The microfibrillar morphology and nanoclay partitioning were studied using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy together with rheological results. The presence of nanoclay in the form of tactoids in the polypropylene matrix accelerated the dye sorption but much greater ultimate dye uptake could be achieved for the sample in which the major part of the platelets were preferentially located inside the poly(butylene terephthalate) fibrils. Although increasing the organoclay concentration increased the ultimate dye uptake, it limited the fibril formation at higher organoclay concentration. The utilisation of a compatibiliser was found to have an enhancing effect on ultimate dye uptake. This could be explained in terms of the interfacial role of the compatibiliser in improving microfibril formation as well as partitioning a fraction of nanoclay platelets inside the polypropylene matrix. ViscositéIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Nanocomposites based on melt blending of an organoclay and a thermoplastic matrix have end-use properties directly controlled by the state of dispersion of the clay and the resulting nanostructure. It is thus very important to be able to correctly quantify the levels of intercalation and exfoliation of these systems. For the exfoliation, rheological measurements in small amplitude oscillatory shear are very powerful because they put clearly in evidence the interactions between nanofillers. We show in this paper how it is possible to interpret the experimental results, we indicate the advantages and drawbacks of current methods used in the literature and we strongly suggest to use the melt yield stress to characterize exfoliation level.
