This review covers its advances from 2014 to the present, from the successful industrial implementation of supercritical fluid dyeing of polyethylene terephthalate to the most recent results obtained for the dyeing of other synthetic and natural textiles. Specific attention is also dedicated to the most innovative applications of supercritical fluid dyeing such as the functionalisation of textile and non‐textile substrates, which may give rise to the development of other sustainable processes or novel advanced materials in the near future.

Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A series of 1,4-bis(alkylamino)anthraquinone dyestuffs were applied for supercritical fluid dyeing of unmodified polypropylene fabric, which is known to be difficult to dye in a conventional aqueous system. A marked tendency was shown that the dyeability improved as the carbon number of alkyl substituents on the anthraquinone chromophore increased. By evaluating the build-up curves of the dyestuff, it was found that the carbon number of optimum alkyl chain length for 1,4-bis(alkylamino)anthraquinone was 8–12. From the relationship between the build-up curve and the colour fastness, it was concluded that the upper limit of dyeing depth for good colour fastness was 40 mmol/kg of fibre.
- le modèle poupée russe: les plans de graphène sont arrangés en cylindres concentriques ;
Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : We employed a quick method of supercritical fluid processing (SCF) to develop superhydrophobic composite coatings by combining h-boron nitride (h-BN) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) to create hierarchical nanostructures on fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets. The prepared BN-MWCNT composite coating demonstrated a high-water contact angle of 169.4°. At high magnification, the surface morphologies of the composite coatings revealed that MWCNT was completely covered by BN nanosheets in all directions. The presence of aligned nano- and microsurface roughness in the coating was investigated using an atomic force microscope (AFM). X-ray diffraction (XRD) study revealed that h-BN nanosheets had a marked effect on the phase separation of MWCNT. The remarkable structural stability of the obtained BN-MWCNT superhydrophobic composite coating was validated by Raman spectroscopy. This study found a cost-effective method to create BN-MWCNT composites by applying the SCF approach. Textiles et tissusIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A novel method for fabric rope dyeing in supercritical carbon dioxide fluid has been successfully developed for the first time for commercial purposes by employing a custom-built machine. The influence of parameters such as system pressure, temperature, and dyeing time on fabric colour strength was investigated, and the parameters optimised. Moreover, the level dyeing property, reproducibility, and colour fastness were investigated and evaluated under various conditions. The carbon dioxide recycling efficiency and the running costs of the proposed process in comparison with conventional processes for commercial production purposes were also investigated. The rope dyeing results show significant influence of the process parameters on fabric colour strength. Satisfactory and commercially acceptable products with a good level dyeing property, high reproducibility of coloration, and good fastness, rated at 4–5 or 5 for washing and rubbing, were obtained with supercritical carbon dioxide fluid. Moreover, a carbon dioxide recycling efficiency ranging from 92 to 95.2% was possible. In comparison with conventional dyeing processes, running costs were lowered by employing the proposed process and rope dyeing machine.
