It was shown that the adsorption of polyelectrolytes on surfaces leads to a lot of applications in working fields like high solids, cationic modified particles, stable dispersions, surfaces with well defined cationic/anionic charges or a certain hydrophiIic/hydrophobic balance. PolyélectrolytesIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Strange things start to happen when you mix a polyelectrolyte and a wax. Jeen International has introduced a technology platform that delivers an easy to use ingredient and is changing the way we formulate emulsions.
The initial introduction consists of sodium polyacrylate and a wax, and any wax can be used. Called “CPW”, which stands for “Cold Process Wax”, the concept of cold process and waxes is not something formulators thought possible, until now. Any wax can disperse in cold water if it is a Jeesperse CPW version of that wax. Table 1 is a list of current Jeesperse CPWs. Waxes with melt points as high as 107°C have been converted to a Jeesperse CPW (now referred to as ‘the cold process wax’).Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13446

Revêtements multicouchesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Magnesium alloy (MgA) was widely used in biomedical field owing to its good biocompatibility and degradability. The surface of MgA was usually modified to improve its corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, and biological properties. Herein, we employed a layer-by-layer assembly technique to assemble both polyanionic and polycationic electrolytes onto the microarc oxidation-treated MgA surface to yield MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50, where the gelatin-conjugated hydroxyapatite nanoparticles [Ge(HANPs)] are the polyanionic electrolyte, lysozyme (Lzm) is the polycationic electrolyte, and polyethyleneimine (PEI) is the transition layer. The morphology and chemical composition of MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, indicating that [Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 were successfully fabricated on the surface of MgA-MgO. The surface of MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 exhibited good hydrophilicity as evidenced by the low water contact angle of 24.5°. Excellent corrosion resistance of MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 was obtained since it can decrease about four orders of magnitude of corrosive current (Icorr) compared to pristine MgA. The biological assay for MgA-MgO-PEI-[Ge(HANPs)/Lzm]50 showed good antiplatelet adhesion and excellent antibacterial activities against both E. coli and S. aureus. PolyélectrolytesTags : Microemulsions Résumé : Polymer-modified microemulsions can be obtained by adding polymers to a mixture consisting of water, oil, and a cosurfactant. In dependence on the type of polymer used quite different effects can be observed. On the one hand water soluble polymers can be incorporated into the individual water droplets of a water-in-oil microemulsion, or into droplet clusters, and on the other hand they can induce the formation of a sponge phase, that means a bicontinuous microemulsion. Our experiments have shown that nonionic polymers, hydrophobically modified polyampholytes, as well as polycations can induce the formation of a phase channel between the water-in-oil and the oil-in-water microemulsion. The polymer-modified microemulsions can be used as a new type of template for the formation of nanoparticles. Therefore, polymer-stabilized barium sulfate nanoparticles of quite different size and shape can be formed in the microemulsion template phase, and redispersed after solvent evaporation in water.
